PSXE Poll Update: Most Gamers Are Big Fans Of PlayStation Plus

As we all know by now, a PlayStation Plus membership will be required if you wish to play games online on the PS4.

That has definitely ruffled a few feathers but nevertheless, the vast majority of our readers are definitely sold on a Plus subscription. And rightly so.

It's not just because it'll let you play games online; it's because of the wealth of benefits members receive on a monthly and even daily basis. Not only do you gain early access to big game demos and betas, you also get additional cloud storage, plenty of free content via the Instant Game Collection (which is frequently updated with new titles), and ongoing discounts. Many believe it has a lot more to offer than Xbox Live, which is required to play online with the Xbox One.

This week, we want to know what your plans are for the next generation: Will you be a multi-console owner? And if so, which consoles will you own? Is it going to be just the PlayStation 4 for you? Or will you have to own all three, just 'cuz that's what a true hardcore gamer will do?

Most likely just the PS4 for me, but I can see myself getting a WiiU at some point also. You know the quality of Nintendo's first party.

Let me start by saying I've already pre-ordered my PS4.

I'm not totally closed-minded to the Xbone, but I AM closed-minded to the Kinect. Its microphone is always on. Microsoft has patents for it to scan my home for logos to tailor ads to me and charge me for things based on the number of people around me. If the Kinect breaks, I can't use my Xbone. That's a resounding "heck no" from me.

The rest of the console is a tentative "Hmm, that's cool...." but I'd be concerned that Microsoft might reinstate its controversial policies. If they can undo them with a system update, they can reinstate them with a system update.

In short, if Microsoft boots the Kinect requirement, shows they have no intention to reinstate their policies, and lowers the price (and the games are awesome), I might be interested.

What the shit?! Are you serious about the scanning logo thing?

They won't remove the Kinect I don't think. It is the one thing they have going for them for future press conferences haha.

Just a PS4 will do thank you very much. Quality hardware and surefire better software are all I need.

PS4 is all I will need. And hopefully a Vita to go along with it.

The PS3 never gave me a reason to want more, and neither will the PS4.

Although, I will be buying a Vita, and a tablet to use to connect to my PS4 games. I want to have the full next-gen experience after all.

Plus there are lots of games I want to port to my Vita. Like FFVII.

When I pick up my next console, probably in 2014, It'll likely be the PS4. The new XBox is so similar and has no game list advantage so can't see the point in getting it instead.

As for PSPlus, I still don't quite see the benefit to me personally. All the discounted dlc in the world isn't very helpful if I only own a dozen games and already gave the dlc for most of them.

The games included in the subscription may sound good until for reasons beyond your control you have to cancel your subscription then all those games go bye bye.

That said, I admit I haven't checked what's available recently that might interest me so the service may have dramatically improved since I last checked.

DLC discounts are rarely a part of PSPlus and not the main reason to get it.

i really cant justify PSN+.
theres very rarely early beta access anyway, and whenever there is theres tons of other ways to get in, or even earlier like what they did with the rise of the gods challenge for GOWA.
then the games are normally pretty old, or really big games every man and his dog has played like RDR or BF3.
even for the vita, i mean if you own a vita you own uncharted golden abyss, it was the only game worth buying for like 6 months after launch for crying out loud!
hope $ony uses it to push indie titles next gen, were finally starting to see allot more indie titles appearing on ps4, and even better allot of horror games, so what better way to try pivot their popularity than with +?

Personally, I almost never play anything online, and yet, PlayStation Plus has been absolutely worth the annual subscription price. I tried out the free month they offered, and I was quickly hooked.

As for this generation, I admit I'm disappointed that this may be the first time I don't buy all available consoles. Even more surprising, I may only buy one. It's still too early to say definitively, but considering the lack of use my Wii received, and over time, the same lack of 360 use, combined with the lackluster approaches each company has taken with the new consoles, it isn't looking good.

I love Plus. It's the reason I need a new memory card for my Vita. lol

And I love the discounts, too.

And most likely I will only get a PS4 next gen.

The benefits of a Plus subscription are worth it to me - I've been a member since was available. When I recently purchased my Vita, it was nice having several quality games available for free.

My PS4 is preordered - should be paid for by release date. I'll be keeping my PS3 for a while, also, with GTA and GT coming out...

I have a Star Wars 360 which I'll be keeping, and have no need to upgrade to the Xbone. I will be letting my Xbox gold subscription expire, so it will be used for offline play only.

You don't give the option for not buying either console. I have no faith in this upcoming generation. I think I'm going to quit consoles and just stick to PC from now on.

I'm not buying any to start with but plan to pick one up some time after launch. Which are you more likely to consider buying? Even if it is a while after launch.

Does acquiring a Wii U and XB1 other than a purchase count? I know eventually they will find their way into my home but no way in hell will I spend actual money on these consoles. I won't support MS not only for their attempt to force the hand of consumers and the flip flopping due to the fallout but also because of the outright ignoring its user base for the last couple of years on the 360. It seems they only go all out to get the console into homes. Hence the sudden return to GamesCon.

I have outgrown Nintendo and they are not growing up with me so.... But it will sneaks is way in my home via my Wife and Daughter.

PS4 fully paid!!! Camera, Extra controller, Killzone, infamous and Watchdogs!
