South Park Creators Wouldn't Cut Content For The Sake Of DLC

Gamers really don't like the idea of developers removing original content and selling it later as downloadable content.

Which isn't to say that we have any idea which extra content was supposed to be "original." But when the idea was proposed to "South Park" co-creator Trey Parker, he answered simply:

"Fu** that."

During a Comic-Con panel, as attended by Polygon, Parker and Matt Stone spoke about the size of the script for South Park: The Stick of Truth. It went as high as 850 pages, which was simply too large. So they were asked to "cut it down, cut it down, cut it down," and use the cut content as DLC. This drew jeers from the panel audience and Parker responded appropriately-

"And I agree…f**k that."

So, we just won't get the content, although Parker added that it would be seen somehow, perhaps as part of an upcoming TV episode. Interestingly enough, Parker and Stone told us that their inspirations for The Stick of Truth included a wide variety of games, including The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Paper Mario and even classics like Earthbound and The Legend of Zelda. Some seriously diverse inspiration there!

The anticipated South Park game will be out later this year for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

I've always liked Matt and Trey for their honesty and integrity. I really can't wait for this game.

Good for them, gives us a peep into how gross DLC has made the industry.

Saying 'f**k you' instead of 'f**k that', would've been far more appropriate in this situation.

Easier said than done. I hope what they're saying is true and "stick" to their words.

Have you seen all the ridiculous stuff Matt and Trey have done? They aren't really afraid of anyone I'm pretty sure they will be sticking to their word.

However if it does get released as DLC I would hope that they didn't cave and it only got released due to technicalities in their legal statement.

I would prefere them to make an episode or 5 or a short film with the material though.

No, that is exactly what I meant: technicalities or legal stuff that force to release a DLC. In other words, one thing is what they want, and other thing is what they're forced to do, or if someone convinced them otherwise.

I'm looking forward to the game. Plus I've always loved that they always find a way to draw a line in the sand.
