Analyst: GTAV Could Sell 18-20 Million Before March 31, 2014
Grand Theft Auto V should end up being one of the biggest video games in history.
How big? Well, Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia thinks it can sell 18-20 million units before the end of publisher Take-Two Interactive's fiscal year (March 31, 2014).
The anticipated title has been projected to perform "substantially better" than its predecessor, which launched in 2008. Of course, with a much bigger installed user base for the PS3 and 360, sales can really go through the roof. However, 18-20 million isn't the highest estimate we've heard; earlier this year, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter said GTAV could sell between 22 and 25 million copies in its lifetime. That's "lifetime," though, and Bhatia believes it could hit 20 million before the end of March. Maybe it'll do even better than that.
If you're wondering, GTAV sold about 11 million units in its first month and over 13 million in the first 9 months following its release. All told, it has sold a whopping 25 million copies to date. ...so, with a much larger user base, couldn't GTAV sell like...a lot more than 25 million?
