Are PS3 Exclusives More Exciting Than Confirmed PS4 Titles?
Everyone is all excited for the new generation, and rightfully so. It is exciting.
Sony's bread-and-butter has always been exclusive software, so it's no surprise to see a few already on the immediate horizon for the PlayStation 4. Killzone: Shadow Fall leads the way this year, and then there's Knack and DriveClub. In early 2014, we should see inFamous: Second Son and The Order: 1886, both of which have tremendous potential. No doubt about it.
But you know, before the PS3 begins to ease into its old age, there are two exclusives in 2013 that might just trump anything on the PS4 list right now: Gran Turismo 6 and Beyond: Two Souls. Let's not forget that GT is one of the most revered (and best-selling) franchises in video game history, and Beyond developer Quantic Dream's last title, Heavy Rain, is one of the most beloved and critically acclaimed offerings of the generation. Sure, Killzone and inFamous are big, but neither come close to GT, and the storytelling potential of Beyond is absolutely staggering.
It's easy to get ahead of ourselves, especially in an industry that moves at a ridiculous pace. In fact, while there are plenty of great third-party games set for the next-gen consoles, easily one of the biggest - Grand Theft Auto V - will only be available for the current systems. Therefore, if you're a PS3 owner, you might be more intrigued by the new games for your "old" console, as opposed to the titles currently scheduled for the new hardware.
I might be.
