Grand Theft Auto V Goes Gold, Rockstar Apologies For Leak

There are times when I don't miss the pre-Internet days.

As some of you may be aware, there was a pretty big Grand Theft Auto V leak: Those who downloaded the digital pre-order of the game through the PSN in Europe were able to access critical GTAV assets. And then, of course, those assets were made public online.

Well, Sony social media manager Sid Shuman has issued a statement apologizing for this mishap, which resulted in spoilerific content flooding the Internet:

"Regrettably, some people who downloaded the digital pre-order of Grand Theft Auto V through the PlayStation Store in Europe were able to access certain GTA V assets. These assets were posted online.

We have since removed the digital pre-order file from the PlayStation Store in Europe. We sincerely apologize to Rockstar and GTA fans across the world who were exposed to the spoiler content. GTA V is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year with a very passionate following, and we’re looking forward to a historic launch on September 17."

Well, what's done is done and it can't be undone. The good news is that GTAV has gone gold, which means it will indeed launch on September 17 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Just remember that the online component won't be ready to go until October 1.

Sid Shuman is Playstations Social media manager not rockstars. that is why he is quoted as saying sorry to rockstar and gta fans.

Some people in some countries got to download the game a bit earlier. Some hackers where able to get some information via the soundtrack aka radio stations which contained information on the plot of the game. HOWEVER, nobody can hack the file so they can play it early for any reason.

Here's a link which is spoiler free.

I don't understand one bit. Well, only some.

Ok look the Soundtrack/RadioStations is out (It's really good lol), the Intro/FileSize is out, there is some funny commercials that I guess are from the game and they are out, as for the ending and gameplay I believe it's out too. Rumor has it that it is and Take Two is obviously taking down those videos. Cant confirm last two but that's what people are saying.

I don't get why some people get so damn impatient that they can't wait 3 measly weeks to see the content and potentially ruin it for everyone else.

Quick question. If I preorder Digital Day One release will my PS3 automatically download the file at Midnight since I have plus or do I have to do it and leave the Ps3 ON? Oh and for those people that don't know you can get 75% off any other Rockstar game on the PS Store if you preorder it digitally.

there is nothing i can find that supports the idea that you will auto download the game as a plus member. i can tell you that if you do start the download you do have to leave it on obviously. BUT if you go to the left of the xmb and go to the power option. it gives you the option to turn off your system after downloading and installing your game. if you werent aware.

Yay, it's coming. Boo for the leaks, but. That's it. Not touching anymore GTAV news (trusted reviews excepted) anywhere until I've gone through the game.

Heck yeah! Sony really screwed up everything by hacking the game and releasing the assets. Man they are really a lousy company and should be banned from having any game on their store that isn't first party.

@_________

So Sony tries to be consumer friendly by allowing its European customers to pre-load the game so that it's ready to go at midnight on launch day, and you're trying to point the blame on them when it's clearly the fault of the asshole hackers for cracking the files in the first place?

STFU and GTFO.
