MGSV To Feature User Generated Missions A La inFamous 2

With online being so important to gaming these days you really can't expect a big game to release without the component. The only question is “What will it look like?”

Metal Gear Online sort of faded away, but fear not, new information from Kojima-san confirms that Metal Gear Solid V will join the online fray. This particular addition will focus on fan creativity.

Kojima told Official Playstation Magazine that MGSV would allow gamers to create user-generated missions. If that reminds you of the UGC in inFamous 2 it should, Kojima mentions the game and hopes that his version of UGC will be even more successful. He also says that we will be able to create missions on tablets and smart phones.

In addition to user created missions we can still expect traditional multiplayer modes, which are being handled by Kojima Productions new L.A. studio so the main team can get the single player campaign just right. It sure sounds like an ambitious endeavor, but who would expect anything less from Kojima-san?

I recommend fans read the full interview as it touches on other topics as well.

I hope this studio handles the online right, Metal Gear Online was the games online gaming experience I have ever had. Having the depth of the MGS4 controls at your disposal online, it lead to such a wide variety of things to do. Other than FPS'S which there really is not much more to do that just killing - which bores me.

Not to be a pessimist, but if they do screw this up I will be so furious, I have yet to find an online game that is as satisfying and I have been looking forward to the next MGO nearly as much as the main game. Still I am glad to hear they're still considering a new MGO, I was so sad when the last one was shut down for good.

meh.
ive always had to wonder how much resources and costs does things like this incur?
and how many people actually utilize it?
i think ive made maybe 2 missions in infamous 2!
they never seem to be very popular at launch, let alone several months after which is these things whole point, to keep people playing long after launch and not trade the game in.
really getting sick of the EVERY game MUST have some sort of MP BS!

The thing is it may be fun to make a level design within a game, but the truth is no one outside your friend group could relate to it so, the majority wouldn't care This is why in games like Little Big Planet the levels that were successful were the ones that ripped off the style of other games - The amount of Mario replica levels was ridiculous.

As for MGO being there for the sake of it , I strongly disagree. MGO has existed since MSG3: Subsistence on the PS2 and it has had me hooked ever since. I know there are many games that conform to having a cheap online counterpart, but Metal Gear Online is not one of them.

I think the inFamous ones struggled just because it was an action game that had a relatively small base of fans.

Metal Gear Solid has been around forever, has a huge base, and most of the fans are stealth nuts who are more likely to be interested in crafting missions than fans of insane superpower action.

Just an observation on my part, we'll see

fanbase has nothing to do with it, most people just are not interested in creating their own missions.
and the few that are, allot of the tools are really frustrating and boring to use.
a traditional MP experience like MGO would serve the purpose of MP, ie keep people playing and stop trade ins, far better than this would.

wish more games would take a MP approach to what GTAV is.
cant believe im saying this, but GTAV online actually looks freaking sweet!
whats better than robbing banks with the AI?
robbing banks with your friends!
you can screw around with friends, or theres actually co-op missions inspired by missions from the campaign.
now thats what multiplayer should be, not creating your own levels, not everything has to be versus matches.
take the single player game and bring it online.
i never thought id see the day where im actually excited and anticipating a MP mode, but from a GTA game!?
this just in its snowing in hell, pigs are flying backwards while reciting the national anthem, and scientists have finally found a cure for cancer!
