New MGSV Video Highlights Quiet's 3D Scanning And Mo-Cap

Hideo Kojima and Co. never hold back when it comes to production values.

As evidence of that longstanding fact, Konami has released a new video that highlights some of the technical wizardry utilized for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. This one puts an emphasis on the 3D scanning and mo-cap, and actress Stefanie Joosten is featured.

Joosten plays the character Quiet in the game, and that character has been the subject of much controversy over the past week. Kojima first Tweeted that he tasked his artists with creating "more erotic" characters, which he later clarified by saying that "sexy" was a more fitting description. Not everyone likes this approach, though, as Halo designer called Quiet "disgusting" and proved that developers are still just a bunch of "man babies." After, we asked what you thought about over-sexualized characters in video games.

Well, anyway, here's the behind-the-scenes video.

Awesome and crazy. I'd love it if I can just have ONE of those cameras. But yeah, this is amazing stuff. I didn't know they would go this intricate and complicated for accurate portrayals of in-game emotions and fluidity of the characters.

Also, I dig the soundtrack. It's beautiful. Kojima must own his own music production of some kind.

At least Kojima has imaginative plots and distinctive characters, the Halo guys are the man-babies. Like they didn't try to make your digital pet Cortana a futuristic nerd's dream :P

Anyway, good to see a Japanese dev pushing tech quality. I didn't play too much of MGSIV but I thought it stood up well even to late gen PS3 graphics.

Personally, I prefer Stefanie Joosten to Quiet, but maybe that's just me. ;)

Nice to see these kind of behind the scenes stuff.

I think she looks well as both human and as a video games character.

I wonder if they will use her voice too or get someone else for that?
