The Mark Of Kri's Great Blend Of Stealth And Action Hits PSN

This was one of the very best games on the PS2, and it's awesome that it's finally coming to the PSN.

As revealed over at the PlayStation Blog, The Mark of Kri will be making its way to the digital world on September 24. There's also an interesting, very detailed "Making Of" post to go along with it.

It's a great read and it reminds me of that title's greatness. It launched on the PS2 in 2002 and was developed by Sony's internal San Diego studio. There was a sequel called Rise of the Kasai, but it was created by a different team - the now-defunct Bottlerocket Entertainment - and it wasn't anywhere near as good. The Mark of Kri combined fantastic culture and artistry with a gameplay mechanic that featured a blend of stealth and action. It was so much fun, especially because both mechanics were very well done.

I can't be certain of how this game will withstand the test of time, but it has some similarities to Beyond Good & Evil (in terms of third-person control, at least), and that HD remake was definitely worthwhile. If you're intrigued by the style and hybrid gameplay, you should at least try The Mark of Kri when it arrives next week.

One of the best games on the PS2. This is definitely a hidden gem that very few people seem to have played.

I was hoping for an HD remake but this will do.

Agreed. An amazing game. The art style, mythos, battle system, and stealth were top notch.

From me? Well this is absolutely a hidden gem on the PS2. Its in my top five action games of all time. As time goes on it gets harder and harder to limit a list of awesome games to top 10 or 5 because there are so many games out now >.<

But I promise you this game just oozes charm, and has such a perfect blend of stealth and combat.

Unfortunately I allowed the negative from the mixed bag of reviews persuade me to not play this one. my ninja sense was telling me to play it. Too bad back then I didn't always heed it.
And I did like the demo.

Sadly not being HD remastered makes this a hard sell for me at this point.

My ninja sense tells me that hero is so lame I don't even want to try it.

I didnt like Rau when I first saw him but he grows on you. He is a bad a$$ barbarian with a heart of gold.

Honestly don't pass this game up because he's not an anime hero :P

Listen to xenris , that gamw was pretty fun .The stealth kills in this are great especially when you kill 2-3 people at the same time .

I remember having a lot of fun with this game. Don't think I will replay it though since I don't want time to tell me how dated it might be. I think I'll keep my memory of this fantastic game intact.

Really enjoyed this, was surprised it didn't get more attention at the time, was one of the many PS2 quality niche exclusives that hit a niche crowd but was a top game. Recommend it to folk that can cope with the lower-res graphics and last-gen animation :).

I played through Mark of Kri a few years back, expected to enjoy it, but ultimately didn't. The game was excessively repetitive and not a whole lot of fun. It had a great art style, but was like an inverse Shadow of the Colossus: Nothing but generic enemies, no bosses, very little variety. It was tiresome and unfulfilling.
