Another Alternate Ending Revealed For The Last Of Us

Quite obviously, you may find some SPOILERS here so look away if you haven't played yet...

Personally, I loved the ending to The Last Of Us. I really think it was close to perfect.

But as is the case with any decent script, there are several ideas that get ditched before the creators finalize the ending. In the past, Naughty Dog has talked about a couple secret alternate endings that were initially considered in development.

Well, here's the second one. What do you think? The plot in the game hinges on the relationship between Joel and Ellie, driven forward by Joel's tragic loss suffered at the start of the story. In the actual ending, it's clear that Joel quite simply can't give up yet another child (and of course, that's what Ellie became to him during the course of their adventure). Humanity be damned, really. There's only so far you can push a man before he finally says, "NO, you're not taking it away from me again. Not again."

Still, this alternate ending is awfully intriguing, isn't it?

Thanks, Zak!

Would've loved to see the reaction to this if this made the final cut. Love it.

Troy is a singer also and can play instruments as well. That man can do everything and he's quite attractive as well. Screw you, Baker!

Read between the lines. Never said It wasn't humorous, simply that I was glad it wasn't serious.

They should have gone ahead and went and animated it on survivor+ or something. Golden abyss had an awesome Easter egg on crushing :\. Oh well.

I would say I would liked that to have been a Glee difficulty ending. lol.

The original game ending was good. It was predictable, but that did not take away from the overall game experience. I did not get the WTF affect like some did since I guessed what was gonna happen.

And again I from previous post would like to have seen Joel give up Ellie and then when then go outside and either shoot himself or just walk in to a bunch of clickers.

But this game is not about choice. And that does not bother me. ND asked you to trust them, to take you on a journey, disturbing as it was, think about what choices you would have made through out the game and then left you with an ending, non-Hollywood, to make you sit back for a minute or two... and then asked you to get off the incredible ride... to play it again in Survivor mode which is how this game should be played.

AND as always, its good to see that when working for ND they know how to just let loose and have fun. It can be about money, but its also about loving what you do and having fun.

Good job ND.

Keep playing and creating!
