Rockstar Removes Microtransactions Until GTAO Is Fixed

Rockstar continues to provide gamers with updates concerning their efforts to fix Grand Theft Auto Online.

The online portion of GTAV debuted on Tuesday but has since been riddled with multiple problems, as reported by thousands of players. The latest update at Rockstar's website says they have temporarily disabled microtransactions.

Microtransactions were previously confirmed for GTAO; if you didn't already know, this is where you spend real money in trade for GTA money used to purchase rare and expensive items online. But while Rockstar continues to work, these won't be available, as their statement confirmed:

"For the time being and until we have been able to get everybody access to GTA Online and things are running smoothly, we have disabled the option of purchasable GTA$ cash packs. Players can however keep on earning GTA$ by pulling off Jobs and other profitable gameplay activities rather than purchasing cash packs."

Another significant update: They have been able to fix one big glitch, which involved a PlayStation Network server issue. The problem had to do with limiting the number of possible concurrent users, which in turn prevented many players from accessing GTA Online on their PS3. But that issue has been resolved, so you should at least be able to try it out. As for the rest, Rockstar says they continue to work on GTAO's general stability.

If I was someone who planned on spending money on gta online, I'd definitely wait until the bugs were fixed anyway to ensure I didn't lose any real money to bugs.
