Rockstar On GTA: "We've Got 45 Years Worth Of Ideas"

Rockstar is an interesting company. And they're not short on ideas.

Mere weeks after the launch of their latest giant blockbuster, Grand Theft Auto V, Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies says they've got "some ideas" for the next entry. But maybe that's an understatement as Benzies said in a recent Develop interview:

"We've got about 45 years worth of ideas we want to do. We don't know what GTA VI will be, but we've got some ideas. GTA Online is the focus right now."

Well, GTAO should be their focus right now, as complaints continue to mount. Thankfully, the team has worked hard on the issues and we may get a significant update within hours. Maybe that's when Grand Theft Auto Online will actually be playable again; let's not talk about extra content until the mode is functional. As for GTAVI, what do you think they might do? Many gamers have wanted them to take GTA outside the US but Rockstar has said before that the core of the franchise lies in this country.

That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing a medieval GTA where you get to play as a knight or something. ...but they'd probably have to change the name of the game. "Grand Theft...Mount?"

"medieval GTA" I also think this would make a great GTA style game. Rockstar could make the best Game of Thrones game ever!

I don't think you can do much more with this series if you are limiting it to jackass men in a big city doing things that don't matter.

I think they should pack at least 40 of those years of ideas into the next game, once you hold back so there's more in the tank next time you run into hindrances.

Here's my idea: let us go insides almost all the buildings.

"medieval GTA"... Omg I'm glad you're not working in Rockstar, buddy. It sounds even worse than a "sci-fi GTA". :p

Nah, GTA should stay true to it's roots and remain an ironic commentary on the modern western world.

Ive got an idea for GTA VI :

GRAND THEFT AUTO : WORLD - Combine GTA V, GTA IV, vice city, into a massive world where you play all the charecters from each game and you can travel between when ever you want
The MP whould be massive with 100 vs 100 players that have a city for themselves and you can raid rhe other players city and cause mayhem and destruction, best to have the game on PC.

i hope they give us some expansion packs like they did for 4 though.
the online components cool but id be nice to see some totally new content come in.
both like 4s where it was a new city, new characters, totally different style.
but i really want to see more of the same style as what it is now, the campaign just started off so well with fast paced epic missions than it goes so down hill and comes to a freaking snails pace once trevor finds michael.
it destroys trevors character as well he starts off as the crazy dude, and goes from holy sh*t this guys f*cking crazy, to jesus tap dancing christ dude would you stop whining about the past!?
he turns from sh*t dont mess with this guy hes nuts, to jesus christ dude your a f*cking pussy GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i really wanna see more of the fast paced holy sh*t this guys nuts moments, and less of the, well less of the whining about the past and driving f*cking cranes!
if i wanted to drive a crane id go get my crane license and get paid 60 bucks a hour to do so, not spend 100 bucks on a game so i can do so!

I just hope the next game is not one of the regular suspects. Tired of NYC and Miami only worked for the 80's period piece because of the whole Scarface and Miami Vice vibe.

The Houser's have already said that GTA is a commentary on American society so I don't think we'll see it outside the US again. How about Texas or the Pacific Northwest?

It needs to go to a place outside the US for a change, somewhere else preferably where they make some beautiful cars such as Germany, Italy, France, Tokyo. Tokyo would be my favourite. Or another London. The dry homour in the PS1 version was just brilliant.
