Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z Gets Ridiculously Bloody On March 4

Ready for some seriously visceral ninja action? Well, you'll have to wait until March.

Tecmo Koei has announced a release date for the anticipated Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z: March 4, 2014. That's when it will be delivered for current-gen consoles, so get ready for another big, bloody challenge!

They also gave us a new trailer, which puts that intense cel-shaded art style in the limelight. Described as a "stylized living comic book," the game is definitely going to turn some heads, especially among the die-hard franchise followers. We hope you have a strong stomach because you'll earn "increasingly gruesome kills" as you progress; remember, zombies are playing a role this time around, so don't take it easy on 'em.

Yaiba is the brainchild of Team Ninja and former Capcom producer Keiji Inafune's Comcept studio. Here's hoping they know what they're doing.

This game won't get a penny from me. I hope it suffers miserably in sales.

no really, this game was designed to annoy me.

Starting at the top.

This game has Keiji Inafune involved. This guy needs to retire from making games. period. I don't think I ever like what he says to the public and he hasn't made a worthwhile anything in over a decade.

I have an aversion to cell shaded games. I'm okay if it's targeted to something youthful looking, like Ni No Kuni or Windwaker, but not this pseudo cell-shaded-cg stylized junk. Never been a fan.

I also avoid zombie games. I stopped being into the zombie thing years ago. just don't really care to go back to slicing up the walking dead.

I'm not a fan of NG going overboard on the blood and guts. I'm okay with it as it's found in earlier NG games, but this, like NG3, is just too much.

The game has this sexually perverse and crude overtone to it, rife with crass comments and behavior not at all associated with Ryu.
This Ryu reminds me of the NEW Dante, but in Ninja garb. I hate that. Can't stand the new Dante and this game seems to be inspired by his attitude.

So to sum it all up. They've taken, perhaps, my all time favorite franchise and took EVERYTHING I don't like about video games today and created a Ninja Gaiden out of it. This is worse than NG3. This is like "Hahah Temjin! you suck, we WANT to make the worst possible creation for you to hate!"

I thought the character was Yaiba Kamikaze?

Anyway it kind of reminds me of the Deadpool game. You get a certain sick, comical bent on an otherwise intense world. In Deadpool Wolverine, Rogue, and the rest are just worthless, they get stomped all over and it's hilarious.

I think you can rest easy because something this niche isn't going to sell more than 200,000 copies.

Sadly, I'm inclined to agree. While his personality and voice actor for this trailer is far better than that of the last, The only trailer that showed any promise was the original announcement trailer... As someone who is steeped in the blood of past Ninja Gaiden titles, Yaiba is one of those games that looks like "cheap used-game" material... As it stands, I wouldn't dare buy this new, let alone launch. Considering the capabilities of those involved, I think it sums it up for me to say I expected more... Damn it I can't wait to become a Game Designer. I know exactly what I could put onto the market... Because I think some devs are losing their edge.

god i hate this industries sudden obsession with cell shading!
i mean come on such a dark serious toned game with such cartoony visuals?
hey i got a idea lets create sequels to hostel and the hills have eyes, but lets give them the cartoony visuals of a pixar cars movie!
just ruins the whole mood of the game.
allot of fun it is, but throughout all my playthroughs i couldent help but resent and hate it simply because of the ridiculously unfitted art style.

March? They're giving themselves less than six months to get a game out the door that played horrendously a month ago? Yeah... this is going to bomb.

Only thing I find weird is that the gameplay looks less fluid and slower than any recent Ninja Gaiden. Like they dumb it down or something. Only reason I could see is that this guy we play is no Ryu!

It looks like a silly fun to play game. I like to play those games that push the boundaries and make people cry on the internet. I support them. (like: Omg... Did they really do that? lol) Games are just games and this one seems to be aiming at being ridiculous. Not the type of game to play looking for morals, just pure dumbness :D. I like these since there are so few.

After Metal Gear Rising not other new Sword/Ninja game looks appealing to me, hope we get MGR2 on Ps4... and this time Raiden can fuse with Bladewolf!
