PSXE Poll Update: Watch Dogs Delay Isn't A Huge Deal

There are always plenty of hot new games to play, especially when two new consoles are hitting the market.

When Ubisoft unexpectedly delayed the highly anticipated Watch Dogs, which won't come out until next year now, there were plenty of disappointed gamers out there. But how disappointed? We wanted to know.

As it turns out, while there were quite a few of our readers who were extremely disappointed at losing Watch Dogs (obviously, it was a game they really wanted to play for the holidays), there were even more who responded with, "eh, I've got plany of games to play." And that's basically true. While both launch lineups for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One could be better in our estimation, there's no shortage of available titles between now and the end of the year. And don't forget about the myriad of downloadable games.

Speaking of the PS4 and Xbox One, we ask the big question: Can Sony's machine outsell Microsoft's in the US this holiday season? That would be one hell of a turnaround after years of Xbox 360 domination in this country, and it would be a fantastic start for the PS4. And if the PS4 can outstrip the Xbox One, will it be by a significant margin, or will it be close?

I think PS4 will have a slim lead.

Me too. And that is actually an earthquake, if so.

I expect PS4 to win by a good margin. Probably by 200,000 units in the U.S. to start.

I've got to give the little kids over at the PS Blog credit. They have been going around saying they are going to cancel their pre-orders because they can't play an MP3 or put a CD in the machine or something or other. These people never had any "pre-order" unless it was for the Xbox One. Children love to use their brand of grammar and punctuation to tell everybody they are a kid.

I'm just a guy who plays video games on a console and uses his laptop as a multimedia device. I can't figure out why people are making a big deal over not being able to put a CD in the machine.

Again, it feels like video gamers live in a grumpy and angry society filled with people who complain and are never happy. They expect their video game systems to do everything when they already have something that can do all that: a PC.

That's why I would have preferred a gaming console just play games. Once it starts shaving people's neckbeards for them they expect it to do everything forever.

Wait until all those people find out that while they can play-back a regular audio CD on the Xbox one, "the system itself won't support CD ripping, MP3 storage or playback." The only way mp3's could be played-back on the Xbox one is by being streamed, but there's even no indication that it'll support DLNA at launch, as MS "is working to get Xbox One DLNA-certified".

Is it just me or does the release schedule for the rest of this year seem a bit more anaemic than usual, even with the new consoles releasing?

As for the PS4/XB1 sales, I think that the PS4 is going to be on top worldwide come January 1. A slim margin in NA/UK, but a wider gulf everywhere else, except for maybe places like Brazil where the price gap is absolutely enormous.

plenty of games to play, but none that are half as original and ambitious as watch dogs is!
not to mention that it and NFS rivals are the 2 only games that will be releasing within a few days of their next gen cousins.
biggest thing thats hurting next gen systems 99% of their games will be available weeks before them.
people are too impatient to wait weeks, and there not going to buy a game and start all over again.
one feature i really wish we would get, cross platform saves man would that come in handy!

ps outsell xbox in US?
HA thats funny!
most certainly not, especially after all the weeks bad news with the game delays, and 2000 standard features missing in the ps4.
its the vita all over again!
and i thought nintendo was bad.......
not supporting certain WIFI security types is one thing, but not supporting external HDDs!?
WTF!?
now shu has confirmed when you replace your HDD you have to re download all your games.
so, shu, i assume $ony is going to be paying the hundreds of dollars a month that it would cost me so i can do so?
spend weeks waiting for all the crap to download, and spend hundreds on the internet connection.
or spend hours transferring it to a HDD, at the grand total cost of ZERO!
jesus christ $ony really are run by a bunch of monkeys!!!!!!!!!

I have to disagree. Watch Dogs was the only unique experience the launch had going for it, it would have made buying a console at launch worthwhile. Without Watch Dogs the line up looks so weak... I was considering getting one, but I am now going to wait until next year.

Regarding sales... Eh, we'll have to wait and see, it will be interesting no doubt.

How the heck could this delay not be a huge deal? What on earth are the titles of those "plenty of games" for those of you guys who voted for that option?
