Ghosts Used Recycled Material From Modern Warfare 2?

I think I hear a whole lot of gamers laughing.

Call of Duty has been accused of being too similar to past iterations in the franchise; in fact, the IP on the whole has been accused of failing to innovate. After all, it has been using the same engine for years. Too man years.

But now it seems developer Infinity Ward has recycled cut-scene animations in the latest effort, Ghosts. YouTube user "satantribal" has posted up the following video, which shows nearly identical character animations and framing for scenes from Ghosts and 2009's Modern Warfare 2. This is the kind of news that is bound to drum up more bitterness from gamers who really can't stand the series, primarily because of reasons like this.

It's not that Infinity Ward isn't talented. It's just that they're required to pump out a new CoD every two years, and they're not allowed to miss that November date. It's just too important for Activision. The result, however, is a "new" entry that, despite being plenty entertaining, feels significantly old and tired. Time to reinvent!

Lol I mean I always knew they did this kind of stuff with buildings and stuff like that but cutscenes WTF They really need to get a third team so they can have more time to pump one out.

And the death animations for multiplayer since Call of Duty 4? Since six games ago?
Nobody has noticed that?

I could understand reusing assets but reusing an entire scripted scene is pretty sad.

Wow that's even worse than using the same buildings in every game. This is the result of annualization, but it isn't just that they have to get the game out so quick it is also that they are ordered to cut costs and corners all over the place to maximize profits.

You didn't think that whole budget allotted to the development actually went into the game did you?

I think they did spend the budget on the game (at least whatever budget Activision allowed them). They did this to save time; they had the mo-cap information and this probably saved a lot of manhours by reusing existing data. It's perfectly understandable when you're on a tight deadline. A bit LAZY perhaps but understandable.

I think a good portion made it into corporate bonuses.

well surprise surprise i'm not nothing when it comes to COD like this sort of thing surprises me its corporates pumping crap every year or two things like these were bound to happen sooner or later so no surprises and well it's just sad to see what they had to do just to get the game out on time just sad , i'd like to say come on activision but who am i kidding they'll keep doing this to COD till it's dead which now after COD ghosts from what i've seen seems soon than later certainly sooner than i thought

happy gaming =)

If a first party game like Halo or Killzone did that, it would be flamed. Call of Duty does it, and it makes a billion dollars. GG

That would be a good meme,a picture of Killzone with words at the top: "Makes controlling a person more realistic, gets flamed" and then a picture of Ghosts "Recycles animation sequences, make a billion dollars".

So people were literally paying for the same game over and over again? ROFL. Glad I never purchased a single game in that overrated franchise.
