Developer: Dracula Will Be "More Human" In Lords Of Shadow 2

Dracula is a legendary antagonist and the perfect villain for the iconic, long-running Castlevania franchise.

Developer MercurySteam has big plans for the head vampire honcho in the upcoming sequel, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. You can learn all about it in the team's latest developer diary.

Producer Dave Cox says Dracula isn't your standard "quintessential evil guy:"

"I think that following a character you can identify with is really important, so we wanted to have a guy that people really saw, really felt for him, they understood how he got to that place. So I think in many ways, our Dracula is more human than previous incarnations of Dracula."

In the LoS storyline, Dracula was actually Gabriel Belmont, who turned himself into a vampire to battle an even greater evil. That occurred in a piece of the popular game's downloadable content, by the way. Now, with Lords of Shadow 2 slated to arrive in February, Castlevania followers are definitely looking forward to their next encounter with Dracula. Here's hoping the sequel lives up to expectations!

It looks that I will have to get around to mirror of fate after all since those events with Trevor are now seem pretty important story wise.

It's certainly stuck on my radar.

I don't mind people hating on names but... why stupid name for a sequel?...they just added a 2 to the original title, what's wrong with that?!? o_รณ.

I was really really hoping this would have us as Alucard with Gabriel as the enemy, so unless the improvements make the combat a lot more fun it's kind of on my wait for it list. This vision of Castlevania is a little too far off the mark for my excitement so I'm glad MercurySteam is giving it up after this game.

The Lords of Shadow Trilogy is Incredibly Epic!!! I have to say I absolutely love the direction Dave Cox and Mercurystream have taken it! If you haven't played it you are REALLY missing out. Robert Carlyle's voice is masterful. He really makes you feel about the character he plays. Out of all the next gen games coming out this one sits number 1 atop my list and is one of the main reasons I'll be playing on my PS3 and not PS4 for awhile. Such an tragic epic!

I think this is one of the games I am most excited for. Lords of Shadow was superb in my opinion. It's interesting to get to know Drac a little better, even if it's a reboot.

such a shame this is not releasing on next gen systems!
both because it really could of expanded the beauty of the game, and also, well, allot of people are trading in their consoles in for their replacements so they wont be able to get this.
thank god its on PC!
and its apparently going to have native oculus rift support, ohhhhhhh i can just imagine it now standing outside those castles looking up as the snow falls!
