HBO Go App Headed To PS3, PS4

Another handy app for the PlayStation universe.

During the inaugural Buzzfeed Brews event in New York City, HBO CEO Richard Plepler announced that HBO and PlayStation have teamed up to bring gamers the HBO Go app. As revealed over at the PlayStation Blog, the app will first come to the PS3, and will follow on the PS4.

HBO Go requires an HBO subscription but with it, you'll enjoy "unlimited, on-demand access to your favorite HBO shows," such as "Game of Thrones," "Boardwalk Empire" and "True Detective." You can also find top-tier movies, sports, documentaries and comedy specials, along with plenty of informative behind-the-scenes bonuses. With all these great apps currently available (or scheduled for the near future) on the PS3 and PS4, they become more and more appealing as living room entertainment hubs. We already have access to Netflix, Hulu Plus, Redbox and more. What else do we need?

So, are you an HBO subscriber?

I watched the first episode of True Detectives and dug it right away. Woody Harrelson and Matthew Mcconaughey are great together. World recommends.

This are great news thou bestowed upon me, Ben. My life is complete. I am a subscriber and currently Xbox One doesn't have HBOGo. Something the 360 did have but I no longer have a 360.

Since we are talking about a movie service, I recommend The Place Beyond the Pines. To anyone.

And now I officially won't miss my XBox Live subscription one bit when it expires in a couple months. HBO Go is just awesome -- the fiance and I are doing a Sopranos watch right now, front to back. We're already on Season 5.

This is fantastic news! Pretty much the only reason I bought a Chromecast was to stream HBO. Now I can move that to another room and stream HBO through my PS3 or PS4 in my theater room.

Now the elephant in the room is when will HBO allow a subscription to HBO Go without having to pay for a cable or satellite package?

Never going to happen. The cable companies would pitch a B***H! Why would you need a cable subscription? I have Time Warner and to get HBO I have to have a Standard and Digital subscription just to watch HBO.

Yes, this is just want CoD needed.
I hope so; it looks promising.
I doubt it, but I'm not sure...
