Take-Two Posts Positive Quarter, GTAV Ships 32.5 Million
Now that's a lot of copies.
Publisher Take-Two Interactive revealed their latest financial report and in the process, they announced that Grand Theft Auto V has shipped 32.5 million copies as of December 31. They didn't divulge the specific sold-through number, but GTAV is expected to eventually become the best-selling PS3 or Xbox 360 game to date.
In regards to the game's online component, Grand Theft Auto Online, Take-Two says that 70 percent of GTAV players who have connected to the Internet have played GTAO. The company also says the game helped their digital revenue experience "strong growth." All in all, the publisher posted revenue of $767.7 million for the quarter, well up from the $405 million it posted last year. The company earned a profit of $210.7 million, also up from last year's $78.8 million.
The largest contributors to this upswing: GTAV (obviously), NBA 2K14 and WWE 2K14. Digitally delivered content rose as well, leaping 42 percent year-over-year to $132.8 million, once again led by the GTA and NBA 2K franchises, as well as Borderlands 2 and Bioshock Infinite.
As for the rumors concerning GTAV on PC and next-gen consoles, Take-Two had nothing to say. Maybe soon...?
