Scared Of Dark Souls II? Just Buy The Collector's Edition

Okay, so you're not prepared to handle what they're gonna throw at you.

Just shell out a few extra bucks, and the developers will give you a boost. From Software and Namco Bandai have announced that those who purchase the Black Armor or Collector's Edition for Dark Souls II will receive a special weapon pack. Just redeem the code and you can give yourself an edge!

Of course, nobody's saying you have to redeem that code. If you're a hardcore purist, you'll refrain, I'm sure. But just to entice you, here's what's in that Black Armor Weapons Pack:

Black Flamestone Dagger and Black Flamestone Parma: A dagger and shield encrusted in Black Flamestone both found in the Gutter at Black Gulch. Even though they are heavier than a normal dagger and shield, the Flamestone crystal’s unique properties make the dagger extremely sharp and give the shield high resistance to damage.

Yellow Quartz Longsword and Yellow Quartz Shield: A straight sword and small shield hardened with yellow quartz both uncovered at the bottom of the Iron Keep. Even though these items can break easily due to their high level of corrosion, they are exceptionally light and their power to inflict damage has not declined.

Bound Hand Axe and Bound Wooden Shield: A brutal hand axe and shield found in the Undead Purgatory. Both items are wrapped in chains and thorns to cause additional bleeding on enemies. Both the axe and shield have diminished in overall slashing power but their ability to deliver pain has been deliberately increased.

Homunculus Mace and Homunculus Wooden Shield: A mace and shield with spherical protrusions found in Aldia’s Keep. Although heavier-than-normal maces and shields, the hard protrusions greatly increase the striking power of the mace as well as the shield’s defensive capabilities.

Transgressor’s Staff and Transgressor’s Leather Shield: A staff and leather shield entwined with an unknown and seemingly lacklustre element; these items are found in the Dark Chasm of Old. They have become a catalyst for sorcery and hex and cause an effect known as Darkness.

C'mon, you know want these! Dark Souls II will launch on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 11.

That is a pretty wicked looking collector's edition. However $120 is a little high. Was not really as fond of dark souls as demon souls so I'm torn.

Don't get me wrong dark souls was awesome, but if I had to choose I'd say demon souls was better which leaves me wondering if I should wait.

Dark Souls II is suppose to be much closer to Demon's Souls than Dark Souls was.

I pre ordered the collector's edition back in December. In my opinion it's worth every penny even without the weapons pack.

People shouldn't worry too much. As far as I can tell, these look like early drake swords. Nothing completely over powered that will carry you through the game. I'd say the first 2 bosses and then its completely useless. Unless you play like me, and enjoy using bad weapons against late bosses. I do wanna see what weapons I'll be getting with this though, I am a player who enjoys Fashion Souls once in awhile. It the weapons look cool enough, I'll probably use them just because.

so want to get this, its really the only game that still captures the old feel of a adventure game, you truly feel like your going on a adventure!
and its also the only game with such a awesome combat system, so much attention to detail paid to it.
i mean if your in tight hallway you cant swing your sword, name 1 other game that does that!
something so simple, but something that makes such a difference.
but its so cheap and frustrating i just cant, i mean whats the point playing something if it puts you into fits of rage and hurll the controller through the TV?
tried to play the beta a bit but it just gets so frustrating, i mean you walk into a pitch black room and your instantly attacked by archers.
how the &^%$ are you suppose to see a enemy thats shooting you if its pitch black and you cant see sh*t!?
you have to dodge this but your not allowed to look at it.
your suppose to keep running and fall off the edge but its only a small drop, but you cant see that you just have to take a leap of faith.
and i bet you 500 bucks theres going to be another level in the game setup exactly the same, but this time the fall will kill you.
thats why i cant stand games like this, they force you to make a decision in a nanosecond with absolutely no information whatsoever, than punish you for making the wrong one.
pluck a guy out of a crowd and put it in the pilot seat and expect him to fly the plane!
no training, no instructions, no information, no nothing!

So you just suck at the game thats all. Keep your shield up in that room, problem solved.

After you get punished for that wrong decision you know what not to do...whats the problem here?

You need to realize that this game is DESIGNED to be hard but also DESIGNED to be beaten. So you just need to figure out how the devs want you to tackle each scenario, usually it requires patience...something you obviously lack.

the game constantly forces you to make assumptions, than punishes you for doing so.
nothing more frustrating than games forcing you to do something, than punishing you for doing so.

There is a way to get a lantern in DS2 couldn't figure out how in the beta but even so I didn't really have any issues aside from spending the first 10-20min getting used to the slightly tweaked controls.
Dark Souls isn't really cheap, aside from Capra Demon. Bed of Chaos was poorly designed but at least progress doesn't get reset if you die. The game really just forces you to exercise caution and IMO play like how you would act if you were really the character you wouldn't walk blindly into a pitch black cave knowing there may be enemies in it. As Xenris pointed out KEEP THAT SHIELD UP.

ever hear of the words common sense surely by now id expect people to know how to block arrows with a shield dark or not you obviously can see the arrows coming at you

i swear nobody these days understands the purpose of aa shield you really should go watch 300 and watch when the persians rain down arrows and the spartans block them with their shields

as far as instructions go your looking at the wrong developers obviously you never had played Kingsfield 1 2 or 3 From Software is known for not giving people instructions and its not like they have a complicated system with special functions adding extra turns like bravely default has

dark souls most complicated system is parrying oh my blocking at the right time
lets see you have attack Dodge block Magic and run that imo doesn't need a tutorial

besides dark souls and demon souls enemies are so pattern based their so predictable and easily counterable and most of them make certain motions before doing an attack which if you can read their motions you can easily predict their attacks and simply roll to the side and hit them and repeat til their dead

honestly its not really a hard game sure you will die at least its not like Kingsfield where the last save marker could be like 5 miles away from where you died

You know what it is? A lot of gamers this generation and last generation are so used to speeding their way through an adventure especially in games where they spoon feed you the gameplay. Demon or Dark Souls did not have a marker pointing you where to go. Granted, Demon Souls was somewhat linear but you could easily get lost in open areas like the swamp.

I personally enjoy exploring the areas to see who or what I find and that's one of the joys of most RPGs. I can literally play a Dark Souls game for 2-3 years without complaints. Each playthrough will be entirely different and everyone is guaranteed to die at least twenty times without accessing strategy guides/advice from others.

i agree way to many games don't have difficulty anymore and then people complain when a game gets difficulty no wonder Ninja Gaiden games are hated on their difficulty

Dark and demon souls are enhanced Kingsfield games basically

honestly i enjoy a game that i will die in because if you cant die theirs no point to playing the game though honestly just about any game you can learn enemies if you put effort into
i put about 70 hours on demon souls multiple chars
i put about 45 hours on dark souls cause i wasn't as impressed most of that was with friends PVPing for fun

My issue with the Souls games is they've ruined other games for me.

I've got Black Flag, TLOU, GTAV, etc. sitting on a shelf, all started and eventually put down so I could spend another 100+ hours with Dark Souls.

Can't wait for DS2. pre-ordered even before this latest incentive.

Mine is that there is so much thing to do ( to explore/covenant stuff ) that i try way too much to do them all in my first unfinished play-through .

You can instant upgrade to black edition if you pre order ( not even sure there is a normal edition to begin with ) , no extra buck needed .

Black Armour is a free upgrade for pre-ordering at every retailer I have seen no need to buy the Collector's Edition though I would love to have that cloth map.

Also honestly too many people are making to big of a deal about these free weapons.

How many weapons in Dark Souls we're very good before being brought down an elemental/magical path or upgrade to +8? So even if they are "good" weapons they probably won't be noticeably better than the normal early weapons.
Also this is a free roam Dark Souls you can go almost anywhere from the get go, even skipping the tutorial I have read in previews, which means anyone who has played the beta knows where the Zweihander is and can rush out and get that bad boy first thing. =D

They also may simply be like weaker versions of the Drake Sword, doubt they will be that OP, and only be good for the first 2-3hrs and then have a crap upgrade path. This is what i am assuming will be the case.
