Capcom "Truly Surprised" At Resident Evil Composer's Admission

The world was shocked to learn that the "Japanese Beethoven" was a fraud.

Now, we find out that in fact, he's not even completely deaf. After noted composer Mamoru Samuragochi came clean, saying that someone else had been composing his music for the past decade, he admitted this week that his hearing had actually improved in recent years, and he could discern words if he was close enough to the speaker.

Samuragochi was supposed to have composed music for Capcom's Resident Evil and Onimusha franchises. So, does the publisher intend to take legal action against the "composer?" The answer is no, and in a statement to Eurogamer, they say they're "truly surprised" by Samuragochi's confession.

"We at Capcom were truly surprised by Samuragochi's recent admission. However, as both soundtracks involved are no longer in circulation, we have no plans to take action of any kind."

The real genius behind the work is Takashi Niigaki, but he explained that he didn't expose Samuragochi because the latter threatened to kill himself if he did. But Niigaki finally decided to come forward when one of the ghostwritten pieces was set to be used by a Japanese figure skater at the Winter Olympics in Sochi. And he didn't want to involve the skater in the deception.

The whole thing is just very unfortunate.

Can't say I even remember the music from any of those games. I was a Silent Hill fan and have the soundtracks from those games. Mind you Silent Hills soundtrack quite literally is a soundtrack if you like what I call Industrial Music.

Anyway, seems like a lot of drama with this story. Not like make musicians today, pop stars, actually write there own music, but I understand this is somewhat different. One persons career exposed and at an end, and potentially another... exposed and a start.

Keep playing!
