Sacred 3: Classic Action/RPG Goodness Returns This Summer

If you're looking for a action/RPG akin to Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance or Champions of Norrath, Deep Silver has you covered.

The publisher has announced Sacred 3, which will slash its way to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC this summer. Players will venture into the mystical Ancarian realm, where they'll need to work together to conquer the deadly legions of foes.

Boasting "immersive and engaging co-op gameplay," this new effort has a lot of promise. Said Deep Silver Brand Manager Remy van Leeuwen:

"The paramount development goal for Sacred 3 has been to create a seamless online and offline co-op experience. By creating a game built around the central concept of co-op gameplay, we’re expanding the series to new audiences without compromising the rich lore and fantasy of the Sacred universe.”"

Sacred 3 will deliver classic arcade hack 'n slash combat that revolves around entertaining drop-in, drop-out cooperative multiplayer for both offline (2 players) and online (4 players) action. Many fan-favorite characters will return, including the Seraphim, Ancarian, Khukuhru and the Safiri. A new character, Malakhim, will be available, and each class features its own unique skills and weapons.

They also gave us a stirring new trailer. You up for it?

Good news. They said this about Sacred 2 though and the co-op was implemented terribly. Only the host got rewarded with completing the quests where anyone else in the part would either have to do it by themselves later or be the host of another game to get credit. It was a mess and confusing and in turn was not fun at all. But the gameplay was fun and I welcome a Sacred game that has a better co-op system.

Always wanted to try Sacred 2 but never got around to it so I'm not sure what it's all about. Might be interested if that multiplayer stuff doesn't ruin it.

Totally random but you should try out Guild Wars 2...one of the most addictive RPGs I've played in years. I've moved on from it but it gave me well over 200hrs. You ever going to upgrade that laptop?

Sacred 2 was a good game. The co-op was weak. If this game shapes up like the last one the co-op will be similar to Baldurs Gate or Champions on the PS2 (of course this will also be online, rather than just local) rather than a Borderlands where it's a focal point. However because I enjoy these types of games with friends I just hope they give everyone aside from the host credit for completing quests. The co-op in that regards was a mess in Sacred 2.

Sacred 2 was a lot like Baldurs Gate and Champions On The PS2. I imagine you played it on pc, but I'm guessing this will be very similar in terms of gameplay.

I enjoyed Baldur's Gate back in the day. Wasn't a fan of Sacred 2. And yes I played them on PC but times have changed at I mainly just use my PC for FPS and RTS. My Sony consoles are for everything else :) I'm looking forward to picking up FFXIV for PS4. I love that I can use the same character/account I've been enjoying on the PC.

Yeah that's awesome. I wish more developers took advantage of cross platform gaming.

I guess I missed the part where there was no mention of the PS4 or X one the first time I read this. That's a shame, probably won't be getting it now. I guess I really need Diablo 3 to release sooner than later.

I thought Sacred 2 was a fun solo game. I have SO MANY GAMES to play, like Platform says, back logged, that it will be sometime before I get to play it. :(

See, if the game played anything like that trailer, I'd be pretty damn keen, but we all know that that just ain't gonna happen.

Speaking of keen, that's the name of the developer and uh... their back catalogue does not inspire confidence: TNT Racers, G-Force, What's Cooking with Jamie Oliver, DDR: Disney Channel Edition.

This is either going to be completely amazeballs or a flop of more than epic proportions.
