New Tony Hawk Game In The Works

It remains one of the most popular and critically acclaimed franchises in video game history.

The Tony Hawk Pro Skater games ruled the roost back during the original PlayStation days and even though the series has faltered in recent years, it ain't done.

The man himself revealed (via IGN) the existence of a new skateboarding game. He mentioned it during this week's Demolition Radio show on SiriusXM:

"We're working on a game, we are working on a game, it's pretty cool."

He didn't go into specifics, but we'd like to assume the new effort will target next-gen consoles. As for publisher Activision, they confirmed with GameSpot that what Tony Hawk said is indeed true, and "more info is coming soon." This is obviously good news for skating fans everywhere!

What do you hope to see from the new Tony Hawk?

I'd like it if it was a new entry with the classic THPS formula, split screen multiplayer and everything. That game is best enjoyed with a friend by your side, not across some wires somewhere else.

Also, no expensive skateboard controller, just the regular gamepad, please.

What I want...
No skateboarding controller, a full game with a STORY behind it that retails for $59.99
Um...
Something like Underground or American Wastleland as opposed to something like Project 8 or Proving Ground...
Hopefully it's a success because if it is, EA will most likely respond with Skate 4! Fingers crossed.

The Tony Hawk Games went downhill after the second Pro Skater. They need a back-to-basics approach. Focus on well designed maps, split screen multiplayer, online multiplayer, smooth animations, and an expansive trick set.

No skating game will ever top the version that came packed with MGS2: Substance.

I'm expecting the special edition to come with a Back To The Future hover-board in the release for next year ;)

Of course that won't be the case but I still hope TH arrives in some form for the PS4. It was the biggest sports game in the UK for quite some time in the UK around the PS1/PS2 days. I always enjoyed Underground 2 myself.

one thing i love about antivision, they dont hide behind PR BS and treat people like morons like other puiblishers do!
if something gets out there like yea its true, will show more when were ready.
everyone else uses the PR we dont comment on rumor or speculation bullsh*t.
its just insulting to your fans.

In the wake of SKATE's sudden absence I gotta say I look forward to this. The world needs at least *one* skateboard franchise alive.
