Ubisoft Montreal Cranking Away On Five Unannounced Projects

Wow, they're busy at Ubisoft Montreal.

Studio boss Jade Raymond confirmed at the SXSW event (via The Star) that her team has five currently unannounced titles in development.

Two projects are being co-developed with other internal Ubisoft teams, but even so, that's a heavy workload for Ubisoft Montreal. One of those collaborative efforts is a new Assassin's Creed entry, and the other is for one of the publisher's "biggest franchises." Then there's a new Splinter Cell and two brand new IPs, both of which we can't wait to hear about. Which of these titles do you most want to see? Are you more interested in the brand new projects? What is that game that's based on a big Ubisoft franchise...?

Guess we'll learn more in due time.

They don't have any I care about. Child of Light looks fun for its turn based combat, but it doesn't appear to be in any sense an actual jrpg. Just inspired by. Plus I'm not all that keen on small budget projects, some of them I am, but they don't usually generate excitement from me.

The only thing Ubisoft does for me is Child of Light. Anything else is on a must-see basis...

Well, Ubisoft Montreal does have something like 2500 employees, so...

I would say that the unannounced collaboration is for Far Cry 4. Although I would guess that they're the primary developers this time around, considering that Ubisoft Massive is the main developer of The Division. Of course, there's a part of me that wants to believe that it's Prince of Persia, but I think Ubi's willing to let that guy die.

As for those other two... I'll be interested in finding out what they are, but I'm not overly fussed. Ubisoft are getting to the point that they're just too big and it's resulted in me being less interested in their projects. Assassin's Creed was awesome for its time, and while Watch Dogs is cool, it just ain't the same. Meanwhile, The Division, The Crew and Rainbow 6: Patriots just aren't doing it for me because of the way that they don't come across as having that same feel of experimentation that was once found in AC and Call of Juarez and H.A.W.X.

Know what I mean?

correction, toronto, not montreal.
that seems allot for even a big studio like montreal though.
so i guess there smaller games, or perhaps different ideas and there trying to decide which to pick.
whatever it is, new IP please!
best thing about ubisoft there so good at bringing us new ideas and really surprising people!
AC came out of nowhere and really amazed people, watch dogs did the same, and the divisions probably my most anticipated title!
and i HATE MMOs!
the crew looks interesting too.

Ms. Raymond did say that it was important for Ubisoft to diversify their library and "to include games built not simply for consoles and PCs, but also specifically tailored to devices such as smartphones and tablets." So it is possible that some of those five unannounced titles could be mobile games.

And yes, she is the studio boss at Ubisoft Toronto not Ubisoft Montreal (which is about 7 times larger).
