Kojima Wants To Try His Hand At Silent Hill: Good Idea?
Hideo Kojima is a masterful video game designer. Metal Gear Solid is one of the greatest franchises of all time, period.
But what do you think about Kojima tackling the survival/horror genre? During a Twitch Q&A session yesterday, the MGS guru revealed that he'd like to work on a new Silent Hill entry one day. What do you have to say to that?
When asked if there was a franchise he'd like to direct or reboot, Kojima named Konami's vaunted survival/horror series and added via translator:
"Hopefully sometime in the future I am able to work on this."
Best known for its creepy, atmospheric horror, Silent Hill is beloved among gamers who appreciate a good scare. The last installment, Silent Hill: Downpour, was something of a disappointment. If Kojima did work on the franchise, though, he said he'd have to prepare himself, as he'll have daily nightmares while developing the game. No surprise there.
Kojima also mentioned working on a mobile game but personally, I say his talents would be wasted on that medium. Stick to what you do best, and amplify your legend; don't diminish it with bite-size, dumbed-down entertainment for the masses. Personally, I think he'd make a fantastic Silent Hill entry...and here's a brainstorm: Invite Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil creator) to take part. There's a dynamic duo!
