New PS3/360 Minecraft Update Delivers A Horde Of New Items

Looks like one of the most popular games ever is getting another update.

Developer 4J Studios has announced that the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Minecraft will receive an update that boasts a slew of alterations and additions.

The studio has submitted Title Update 14 for testing with both Sony and Microsoft and when that update goes life, players will have access to a ton of new items, including blocks, potions and special items. One of those special items is a carrot on a stick, which will let you rid animals for faster travel. You'll even be able to trade with villagers, and we can expect a new Anvil Interface along with new terrain generation features (Desert Temples, for instance).

Man, that means this game is going to get even bigger. Dear Lord.

That's pretty much exactly why it's so popular. It's a massive sandbox where you get to build whatever you want, basically a giant virtual lego set. With a difference that you make one small payment for infinite pieces as opposed to several hundred dollars for a couple of boxes. Add to that the effort involved in getting some of the materials giving you a large sense of accomplishment when you finish whatever project you were working on.

It's not just a building game. There is a survival game mode as well, which is the main game itself. People just look at it and see the building aspect. There is an actual goal to the main game if people would actually play it instead of labeling it strictly "a building game."

I just wish they would bring out the ps4/xone versions so we can play it like it's meant to be played, but saying that I'm more than happy it being on the ps3 now.
