Assassin's Creed Movie Script Being Rewritten...Again

No big surprise. Seems like every game-to-movie adaptation these days has a script that needs rewriting.

As reported by Deadline, the "Assassin's Creed" movie is in need of a rewrite. "Exodus: Gods & Kings" scribes Adam Cooper and Bill Collage have come on board to handle the new script.

The live-action film starring Michael Fassbender still doesn't have a release date; it doesn't even have a director or confirmed cast. As for the aforementioned duo, they also worked on the script for "The General," which will be directed by Darren Aronofsky ("Noah," "Black Swan"). Of course, this isn't the first time the AC script was commissioned for a rewrite; British playwright Michael Lesslie wrote one of the first drafts, and then Academy Award nominee Scott Frank gave it a shot.

Well, maybe they'll get it right eventually.

This is typical Hollywood business. Script rewrites happen all the time for every type of movie. What's should be of concern is what the creative forces envision this movie to be. They started with a great acting choice, so maybe they don't want another Prince of Persia.

HA! It's funny & maybe ironic too, that the ad directly under Ben's article(& above our comments section) is for a Full Sail University course on "Creative Writing for Entertainment".

I'd prefer somebody has a vision that is brought to life rather than work shopping a script so that it appeals to enough people.

And ditch Fassbender, he's no leading man assassin.

From what I seen from 300, Haywire, the X-Men movies and pretty much everything else he's been in I'd say he's the best thing this project has so far.

Don't even remember him in those, ergo forgettable.

Fassbender is a great actor.

My hopes for this project will be dashed if he leaves.

Also remember this is Altair not Ezio.

Teddie,
Actually, it hasn't officially been announced who the assassin is. Altair is definitely a possibility, and Fassbender would not do a good Ezio (or Desmond for that matter) (I think, anyway). There is speculation, however, that it will be a new assassin, which I would prefer.

This is typical hollywood business for all screenwriting. It typically gets rewritten in some way or another upwards to 20 something times. It's insane.

Nothing unusual here, and if the movie turns out to be good, it'll be well worth it. AC is one of very few game franchises that could translate well to the big screen, having a solid story, great backdrops and "verbs" that would work in a movie. Somehow, I can't shake these high hopes, though I know I should.

Also, Fassbender is a pretty damn good actor. Loved his turn in 12 Years A Slave.

do we really need an AC movie?
no, really?
we all know what the result of this is going to be, and last gens greatest new IP has been dragged through the mud enough, so lets quit while were ahead, no?
think of all the amazing cool things we could do with that money instead.
