Dark Souls II Stat Update: Enemy Deaths vs. Player Deaths

So, which enemy do you defeat most often in Dark Souls II?

It's the Stray Hound, isn't it? According to the Beyond the Bonfire stats site, the combined efforts of PS3 and Xbox 360 players have resulted in over 110 million slayings of the evil canines. Many of the Hollow and Royal Soldiers are gettin' offed a lot, too.

Of course, those enemy numbers aren't a patch on the overall player death tally, which is rapidly approaching the staggering 250 million mark. Also, let's not forget that the game isn't even available on PC yet...doesn't this mean that eventually, we might actually see player deaths approach the 1 billion mark? I mean, that's just nuts. Check the stats page above for more vital information, all of which will re-confirm just how hard this game really is.

On my NG+ and the game is kickin' my ass but miraculously I'm getting through it.

It's no where near as tough as the last game though.

In fact a tip for anyone not too sure going into a new area, drop a white soap stone and go through the level a few times helping other players in their game. This benefits you in so many ways. You get to see where all the enemies are, all the hidden spots on the map for scoring new equipment or items, maybe get to take on the boss as well and all completely risk free.

You see, if you die in someone elses game, you just end up back where you dropped your white soap stone (I recommend dropping them near a bonfire. Higher rate of being summoned and you're able to repair all your equipment and refill your estus flasks automatically just by sitting at them) and you keep all the souls you've earned from the other person's game (Great for levelling up).

Also to save on using Humanity's, after the recent patch I've found that if you help someone else beat a boss, you now get your humanity back (before the patch sometimes you did and sometimes you didn't. I've been finding it now to be 100% of the time). So don't waste your humanity's unless you really have to.

There's loads of other stuff I could go into that make this game so much easier relatively speaking compared to the last game, but that's some seriously good knowledge I've already shared with you there, don't be intimidated by the game. You've less chance of losing souls (hence less risk) if you jump into other peoples games and then spend your souls before trying your level run. And there's more than enough people dropping white soap stones looking to earn souls helping you out so get in there and have fun.

I'll definitely say this game is not even near as frustrating or tough in many ways compared to DS1. It does have it's challenges but the risk is taken out of it.

You would think veterans of the first game would be able to avoid dying so much, right?

Yet look at how many people are STILL dying left and right.

Regardless of what you said there, the game is still a great challenge to many people.

The game is definitely still some what of a challenge no doubt, what fun would it be with no challenge. My point is that there's less of the risk making the game seem less intimidating if you make use of the ability to jump into other peoples games and learn risk free of what's ahead.

I've been summoned quite a bit to help out with the Ancient Dragon.

He's to blame for probably at least half deaths lol

He was the toughest boss in the game, for me at least. I couldn't beat him on my own, not a chance. His AoE flame attack is a one hit kill on me.

The ancient dragon is a completely optional boss that has more health and is meant to be a war of attrition and should basically be harder/ take longer than any other boss in the game. He was designed that way.
