Ubisoft: Watch Dogs Will "Stand Alongside" Other AAA Blockbusters

Watch Dogs is one of the most anticipated new games on the horizon, and Ubisoft has very high expectations.

Ubisoft boss Wayne Greenwell tells MCV that their new IP will rival the industry's biggest franchises this year; namely, Call of Duty and FIFA.

"Excitement for the product remains incredibly high and gamers are desperate to finally get their hands on the title. This is reflected in our pre-orders which are hugely promising for a new IP and highlights the enthusiasm that has surrounded the product since it was first unveiled to the world.

With Watch Dogs, Ubisoft is building a new blockbuster brand to stand alongside other top tier triple-A titles and we expect it to be not only one of the best selling new IPs in recent memory, but also one of the best selling titles throughout 2014."

Well, it's certainly not impossible. Watch Dogs has a tremendous amount of hype behind it and if the game delivers, it could end up being the Assassin's Creed for a new generation. Don't forget that Ubisoft enjoyed fantastic success after launching the AC franchise early on during the last era.

Do you think Watch Dogs will rocket to crazy heights!

I hope so. It looks great. Is FIFA that big of a game? I don't have any gamer friends that play it. Is it more of a worldwide thing?

Watch dogs will be a good game at best, not a great game IMO.

Nobody has even played this new ip and you're already judging the quality.

I think this will be a Epic game in many ways. Watch Dogs might go down in history as a franchise that has GTA popularity potential with better world and gameplay.

It will probably be pretty good. I'll still be shocked if it becomes a franchise, but then again they have excess AC dollars to invest in sequels.

Why do you doubt that it will become a franchise?

In other news, I think you'll be pleased to know that Fairy Fencer F drops in September.

Just a feeling it will underperform compared to the cost of production. Someone in a suit and tie will stack the cost up against how they expected it to perform and the way Assassin's Creed performs and do the typical thing: judge it a failed experiment.

Thanks for the heads up on Fair Fencer, I'm gonna screw that game's brains out.

Fair enough, though I daresay that the Ubisoft heads are looking at it as a long-term investment, the same way they initially did with AC. Stuff what they say, I reckon a sequel is already in active development.

Don't be like titanfall and be the most generic thing on the planet. Stay true to being different while maintaining a sense of exploration of a large city and all the content you plan on putting in it. Ubisoft does some great things, they won't flop it out like mr "no one should even care if titanfall is not 1080 anyways."

That guys like Tom Hullet, hilariously dumb.

Ubisoft mostly always release good stuff, so if they've applied that same quality insurance on this production, I'm thinking surely it must end up being good.

I think that the hype got a little derailed by the long delay, which means that Ubisoft are deluding themselves if they think it can pull down 10M+ sales, but I have little doubt that it will come close. I just hope that they don't annualise the damn thing, and instead roster off between WD and AC.

really?
if its SO good than why is it strictly still hands off presentations at events?
when the games due out in a month!
games probably gone gold by now, and there still not letting people get their hands on it!
not to mention we have not seen any live gameplay since what, last year?
they have only shown recorded trailers so far were still yet to see it in live action after the massive last minute delay.
im sorry ubisoft, but dont try to sell me a out house and tell me its the taj mahal!
i was not born yesterday, so dont insult your fans!
