LittleBigPlanet 3 Gracing PS3 As Well

When it was first unveiled on stage during Sony's E3 presentation, no mention was made of the PlayStation 3.

So, most people just assumed that LittleBigPlanet 3 would only be made for the new PS4 console. However, that's not true.

LBP community manager Steven Isbell was asked if the anticipated sequel would also release on the older piece of hardware. Isbell replied on Twitter: "Yes, it will be available on PS3 too." He added that he'd have "more exciting details" to divulge in the future, so maybe that's when we'll learn more about each version. LBP3 is slated to hit the PS4 in November; we assume it'll come to the PS3 on the same day, but you never know.

This is undoubtedly one of the most promising titles of 2014. And if the developers do a dang good job, it could very well be a legit Game of the Year contender. We're talkin' about Sackboy, after all!

To be fair, LBP was never a demanding game technically. So it would make little sense from that perspective to make it for the ps4 only. Heck, they could just as well have made a smart phone version too while they were at it.

That's not entirely true, Beam. In terms of graphical performance, absolutely. But they did quite a bit in terms of physics.

I'm also going by the word of my wife's cousin who is an electrical engineer and program developer. So, I'm more trusting him. The company he works for requires aptitude testing for new employees. He owns the record for highest score, so I'm assuming he's smart.

On a related note, the new Tomb Raider shows listings on Amazon for 360 and PS3, as reported by Dualshockers.

The physics shown in LBP isn't *that* demanding to calculate, Underdog. They are good, sure, and well designed, well programmed, but not too heavy to compute. There's plenty of similar physics on display in mobile games, especially puzzle games.

I'm not sure LBP would play well on a touch screen, though.

Looking at some vids, I don't think you could put it on a smartphone without drastically reducing the quality and removing a large number of features. Then there's the control issue. I kinda agree less than I did now.

I hate to say it, but so far this is the most disappointing gen I've seen. None of the developers seem to be willing to take risks for the new systems. This gen seems pointless with the constant F2Ps, cross-gen games, and ports of 2013 titles. IMO, the PS4/XB1 should've came out in 2012, because the last gen was far too long.

I dont have a PS4 or an XB1 and so far no one is giving me a reason to by either of them. LBP3 couldve been a system seller for the PS4 and now that's up in the air. I never thought Id say this, but I really hope support for the Xbox 360 and PS3 die out soon, because no one is going to buy games for the PS4/XB1 if they're already on PS3/X360.

This also brings another point: I dont know if it's true or not, but apparently the PS4 version will have 16 layers, while the PS3 has 4. If that's the case, then why make the PS3 version in the first place when its designed as the worst of the two? Plus this shows how cross-gen titles can prevent developers from taking full advantage of the new systems.

I still say2012. If it was pushed back further, more people would be reluctant on buying next gen. We were too attached to the PS3/X360 era, which is why they're still focusing on it. It should've ended sooner.

I really don't know what to think about the PS4 right now. Part of me loves it and enjoys it, but the other part of me hates it because there are no games worth calling "Next Gen" (Maybe a couple). Come on Sony bring out them games :)

Stunning. Despite the fact we've seen that these new consoles are both popular and the PS4, X1 versions are generally outselling their last-gen counterparts, we're still getting cross-gen crap. The PS3 and 360 need to ride off into the sunset already but these damn developers won't let it happen. Really sickening.

The bigger gaming populace still lives on the previous generation. Its financial suicide to NOT cater to the bigger portion.

Not that I am agreeing with it but I do understand.

But at some point, they HAVE to move on. The PS2 sold over 100 million units, but Sony knew they can't riding it. The same with the Wii and PSP. They need to just focus on the PS4/PSVita at this point, or else they end up juggling with a bunch of systems. The attention and effort they're giving to the PS3 should be given to the Vita. A company has to take risks and this "playing it safe" with cross-gen and re-releases is off-putting.

Yup, those of us who spent $400 on shining new machines are a bunch of 'ungrateful' crybabies for asking for something that takes advantage of the new machine we bought as opposed to projects that are watered down due to also being put on outdated, garbage hardware.

I'd love to tell you guys "I told you so" when I said I wouldn't buy one in the first year, and I'd love to remind you that the same thing happened with PS3, PS2, and PS1, but then you'd all probably start giving me a big ol' list of games you claim was released in year 1 for those consoles despite them being released in the second year.

But what'evs. Believe w/e the hell you want.

What a shameful year for the PS4 .Beneath the boasting of a " gaming renaissance", anti DRM, and aggressive pricing, is a company seemingly unprepared to deliver the goods beyond public jabs at their competitors. And Nintendo had to explain to journalists why gems like Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Super Mario 3D World, Wind Waker HD came in within the first year of the console's release while Sony gets the pass.....

That's the power of having the most gullible fanboys. Nintendo and MS fanboys are bad, but Sony fanboys are pathetic, I learned the PS fanboys were the biggest joke when everybody was defending Sony for allowing consumer information to be compromised during the PSN hack back in 2011. They'll make up any excuse for their corporate mother that is possible then label anybody who dares question Sony a 'troll.' People like myself who have bought every PlayStation console. I went out and pre-ordered the PS4 as soon as possible and bought it day one, the last thing I want is this console to suck but right now Sony is not delivering how it could and things don't look much better for next year with the very real possibility that something like Rise of the Tomb Raider will be cross-gen. Enough already, it's time to move the hell on and start delivering true current gen experiences, that's not too much to ask and its third party partners. And before anybody says anything, yes, I realize something like Forza Horizon 2 is also cross-gen so MS is doing the same bs, but I own a PS4, not an Xbox One, so I'll let those who have invested in MS worry about what that company is or isn't doing for its console. My concern is Sony stepping up its game.

Gamer46, the PSN hack really brought out the worst in the fanboys, that I totally agree with. The defence were indeed at times pathetic. Especially those who camouflaged their fanboyism in a cloud of technical excuses were the worst.

I'm not so sure if it's any better on other platforms though. My impression is that it's not - not at all. Fanboyism is non platform specific.

@Gamer
I was more upset with Microsoft's 2007 hack that saw -CURRENT- credit card info stolen with 2 weeks of Live being down (at Christmastime, no less!). I was further frustrated by the ongoing system locking strategy as a method to block people's accounts being compromised on an ongoing 4 year basis.

But meh... people would rather complain about a 1 month contained problem than years of instability and vulnerability kept hush hush.
