EA Admits Battlefield 4 Launch Situation Was "Unacceptable"

When Battlefield 4 first launched, it was plagued by a host of crippling issues that made it virtually unplayable online.

The problems persisted for months, which succeeded in ticking off a lot of fans. However, publisher Electronic Arts is aware that such a situation is - as they put it - "unacceptable."

During a new Eurogamer interview, EA CEO Andrew Wilson said the issue was due to an overly ambitious mindset, and the designers and and publisher have to work harder to achieve stability for a game's release:

"Think about what Battlefield 4 was: 64 player multiplayer, giant maps, 1080p, Levolution that was changing the gameplay design in an emergent way. There is a chance there are things you are going to miss through the development cycle. And you end up in a situation we had with Battlefield 4."

Wilson added that the situation in question "was unacceptable" and he says they have to be committed to delivering value to the fanbase. Let's hope the BF4 mess doesn't happen again when Battlefield: Hardline launches on October 21.

Early for a post again! Man I'm so MLG.

Also, the game is still plagued by issues Mr Wilson. Kinda the reason people are going back to BF3, it actually works right.

But then again I wouldn't know. I haven't played shooting games in awhile. And by shooting games I mean games that involve evil russians and chinese people.

Also BF4 plays like a hybrid of League of Legends and Sly Cooper.

The thing that's really unacceptable nowadays is EA. Been boycotting them & their money milking practices for several years now. Capcom & Activision as well. 5 bucks for a character, car or map? You realize thats like 1/10th of the game price....right? People go after devs for story endings they dont like (ME3) & so called game breaking glitches which I NEVER encountered in my ps3 Skyrim. At least w Bethesda $10 gets ya much more value in DLC.

Too bad that extra 10 bucks can't fix all their damn bugs. You may have been in the lucky minority, but Bethesda without a doubt has a track record for buggy software.

Not saying they don't. Fallout locking up on me all the time would be a good example. People don't seem to realize that a game that huge is going to have bugs here and there. By the time every bug was worked out of Skyrim before release the game would no longer look up to par with current graphical standard & there would be complaints about how horrible the character models looked.

All I know is that I'm 32 & have seen games come all the way from Atari to PS4. My whole point is this is now a me, me, me generation. Something will be found to complain about. I don't remember anyone bitching about $70 games for Genesis that were 3 hrs long & looked like utter crap compared to games now.

We have become waaaaay too spoiled. I see people all the time on PS Blog complaining about how their FREE plus games aren't good enough or should cost less. I paid $50 a year for about $500 worth of the plus games I played. I just don't see the need for a game that has bugs, bad servers & ends up costing the consumer over $300 after a special edition with 'exclusive' DLC, an Online pass & a season pass. Not to mention the fact that digital versions are the same price as Bluray. Seriously???

what pisses me off though is why they let the game out in the first place.
QA exists for a reason!
what, your telling me your paying testers day in day out to play the game, have multiple studios of QA teams, and NO ONE noticed the bugs people were suffering on launch?
of course they did, they just did not give a royal f*ck and put it out anyway.
because thats todays mentality, f*ck quality all we care about is making our giagantic wallets just that little bit thicker, and to hell with everything else!

im really getting sick of buying things and they just not working, i mean for f*cks sake as technology moves on were finding it harder to make things work!
why?
why is it that everythings thats only a few months old is a unreliable piece of sh*t, and things that are decades old never skip a beat!
perfect example i got a good discount on a new clock radio a few weeks ago so i decided to buy it.
mines fine, had it for TWELVE years and its STILL going fine!
plugged my new 600 dollar one in and no power.
WTF!?
took it back today and they replaced the power supply and now the speakers are cracking and sound like they have been blown.
took it back again and they replaced the whole unit.
and now 3 days in a row ive woken up to find the stupid thing off, lucky i set the alarm on my phone too otherwise i would of been late for work!
SIX F*CKING HUNDRED BUCKS and ive already had so many problems with it!
same thing with phones i got rid of my 3S recently and switched to the note 3 and am having to constantly restart the phone the softwares really buggy and keeps freezing.
why is it so f*cking difficult to create something that JUST WORKS!?
NOTHING more frustrating than spending big bucks on something and having to constantly keep taking it for repairs!
hell even my stupid ps4 wont let me upgrade the HDD for some reason keeps telling me it cannot detect the FW on my USB stick whenever I try a bigger HDD, but whenever i try a 500GB drive the FW magically appears on my USB.
seriously, why is it so god dam difficult to make things RELIABLE!?

You have the worst lucky with technology, I've never heard of one person having such poor luck. If you are getting sick from all these newfangled gadgets, perhaps you should just stop and limit yourself to pre-2004 technology.

Sorry after playing that abysmal alpha that EA released, I'd say skipping out another year would be in your best interest. The game looked like a mod to BF4 and wasn't really impressive.
