Airtight Games Quietly Shutters Its Doors
Although it isn't official, Geekwire reports that studio Airtight Games is no more.
There's a picture that apparently confirms the closing of the Redmond, Washington office, which brings the team's 10-year run to a close. The company cut 14 jobs in April, which was described as a "necessary restructuring," and they also revealed they were trying to find partners for future projects.
Well, it seems all of that has fallen through, and only a month after the developer released the anticipated Murdered: Soul Suspect. The game didn't quite live up to expectations and sales were low, which obviously contributed to the demise of Airtight. The studio was also responsible for 2010's ill-received Dark Void and the much better Quantum Conundrum in 2012, a new puzzler from Portal 2 designer Kim Swift.
This industry is rough. Either you keep coming with the gems, or you'll eventually have to call it a day.
