Take-Two's Recent Red Dead Statement Hints At A Sequel?

Maybe we should read between the lines...

Publisher Take-Two Interactive filed a shareholder outreach document this week with the US Securities & Exchange Commission and in it, the company cites Red Dead Redemption.

The extremely successful title that shipped over 13 million copies currently holds a 95 Metacritic ranking and is revered as one of the best games ever. And in that document, Take-Two says Rockstar's 2010 smash hit "rejuvenated the Western entertainment genre." That isn't in dispute; I can't even name another successful game with a Western motif, can you? There are a few here and there, but none that had the sheer punching power of RDR, which is why everyone wants a sequel.

No word on that yet, but Take-Two has said in the past that Red Dead is one of their "permanent" franchises. Hence, a sequel is inevitable...it's just a matter of when.

Nice to see gaming keep Westerns alive. As we continue to rapidly zip into this world of constant technology and exciting frontiers I think there's value in the myth of the American cowboy.

The online was completely broken until like 2 months ago, perfect time to grab it but you're gunna have to level up the old fashioned way, the 1 hour level 50 glitch was the one good perk with the messed up online lol.

Didn't even know there was a western themed side of games to be "rejuvenated" until this game, a good game not one of the greatest of all time in my opinion though.

RDR 2 needs to start after the American/mexican war 1850 and follow 2 or 3 generations of the same family right through the civil war & into the golden age of the wild west 1870-1880's........and also do season 4 of Deadwood for good measure!

I really liked RDR, but the online was not only buggy, but it took forever to level up. I gave up on it because of those facts, not to mention like in GTA, there's always assholes that ruin other people's fun.

See now I don't even know how to feel about this just after reading about Taketwo being bought by Activision. It hasn't happened, but if it does...

Absolutely loved RDR, amazing game - little slow to get into to begin with, but once it got going - wow.
A masterpiece of entertainment in my eyes.
A sequel would definitely be a day 1 purchase. Wonder if Rockstar will look at doing what they did with GTA and having a number of different main characters that you can switch between, maybe a native indian, an outlaw and a sheriff

They've probably been working on it for several years now, wouldn't be surprised if we get a reveal and release next year.
