Celebrate Thirty Years Of Naughty Dog With An Art Show

Naughty Dog's artistic achievements in the world of interactive entertainment should be recognized.

In celebration of the studio's 30th anniversary (yes, 30), Naughty Dog has announced an art show and celebration: A Tribute to Naughty Dog: 30th Anniversary, which will be held at Gallery Nucleus.

That's the first place you'll be able to see a full-length video during special screenings on October 4 and October 12. The art show begins on September 27 and opening night includes a photo booth area, cosplay, special guests, some sweet merchandise (like a Naughty Dog art book), and even a birthday cake. They've got some concept and character art workshops planned as well.

Those who arrive early at Gallery Nucleus will be eligible for door prices and giveaways, and this includes t-shirts and posters; for instance, the first 30 people in line will receive a limited edition Penny Arcade 30th Anniversary Pinny. Between now and the end of the show (October 12), Naughty Dog is asking you to Tweet your favorite memories. Just use #NDMemories and post up a photo or screenshot; the developer will then retweet the best memories, and you might en up with "something really cool."

These guys are pioneers, plain and simple.

Probably the greatest developer in gaming today if not ever.

You're crazy. Definitely not ever.

So many great developers out there. Of all time it's probably Nintendo (EAD).

Konami Computer Entertainment Japan....Kojima Productions tops my list (only because of the MGS franchise)

Nintendo is still stuck in the past with the same old mascots doing the same things in 3D. Koji can write some good stuff but it's weird and wild and disconnected and full of holes. The games don't exactly redefine gaming greatness either.

ND picked up a torch and every 3rd person developer followed their lead. Nobody comes close to their characters and stories or tense action sequences as well as the incredible technical prowess they show that nobody else has come near achieving.

It's true that Nintendo is stuck in the past with the same old mascots, but almost every single game they release is a top quality product. Just take a look at Super Mario 3D World. Yes,yet another Mario game, but it is is filled with creativity and extremely fun moments, solo or with friends. There is a huge difference between how you played Super Mario World, 64, Sunshine, Galaxy and now this newest one.

Anyway ND has released nothing but great games, so I wouldn't mind placing them up there with the historical gods.

Do note I said Nintendo is probably the best of all time - not currently. I've played pretty much all the games ND has made (yes, even Crash Team Racing which I loved lmao), but I PERSONALLY did not find Uncharted to have the best story or characters.

Yes, the story is easy to follow compared to MGS but that doesn't make it better. While a lot of developers have been following their lead, I prefer MGS's gameplay and characters over Uncharted or TLoU and that's probably because I grew up with it.

Sometimes I FEEL (I repeat I FEEL) like Uncharted is in a way like Assansin's Creed --- beautiful graphics and great gameplay but story and characters could be better.

ND... Everything they've made has been a hit. They know what people want and they know how to one up anything in the market at that time. Even with the small team they have, they have done nothing but own the gaming industry with titles and characters everyone knows about.

Are they the best? In my opinion, yes. One of the best. Uncharted 4 won't just be -next gen- it will be the game people say "crap time to pick it up"

Happy Birthday ND
