PlayStation TV Drops In Price At Major Retailers In US

Still interested in trying out PlayStation TV?

As noted by a GameSpot reader, major retailers across North America have dropped the price of the handy little unit.

Instead of $100 for the base model, places like Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy and GameStop are now selling PlayStation TV for only $80. The package that includes a controller, which normally retails for $140, can be found for $100. Now, this isn't official because Sony hasn't actually announced a price cut but hey, it's still good news.

The unit in question can play select Vita and PSP games on your television, and can also use Remote Play to stream a PS4 game from one TV to another in your home.

It does seem like kind of a useless idea

Not completely. I'd like to play some PS Vita games on my tv and the idea of being able to use your ps4 on another TV without moving it is a great idea. Just not sure how well it will work in practice.

IF it's anything like steam home streaming it should be fine as long as both devices are on a wired connection. I would go as far as to say it may even look better than playing with the vita cause you know, wired. Either way, adjust your expectations since you know, it's Sony, and god forbid they optimize their sh...I mean stuff to work properly for a certain feature.

I am sure I am the minority in the country when I say that I only have one TV in the house but for those that travel and/or have multiple TVs in the house this COULD be a great option.

I'd like one of these so I don't have to move my ps4 up and down stairs but I worry the lag will make it worthless.

I have zero faith in American internet service and equipment to make this tech functional. Too bad, I agree it would be awesome to not have to lug my PS4 all over the place.

60mbps is just fine. My issue is my set up rather than the ISP. My other TV is located on a odd spot of the house where the wifi isn't too great and a wired connection would require a new hole in my wall and 50+ ft Ethernet cable.

You should consider getting a network bridge. I got one and tested it out by playing CoD zombies over in home streaming from my PC to my Laptop. PC connected to my router, Laptop connected to the bridge, and it worked flawlessly. Watched the Diagnostics, not one frame dropped. I should also add that it is a 5ghz N bridge with 300 mbps ports.

Yes, can someone who has one please let us know?
I'm very interested in getting one to play some PS4 games in my basement. But my PS4 is upstairs and I don't want to move it back and forth.

Please let me know if there is lag and, if so, how much lag. Thanks!

Reviews have stated that there is no lag if you are wired, but forget about trying it over wirless.

Seems like the end for the Vita line... Are there even new games coming out for Vita that aren't indies?
That said I'm still getting the bundle, need a new controller for my PS3 and could use the PSTV on my PC monitor for some light gaming...
Too bad it does not support PS3 Remote Play :-(

I have PSTV (got it on amazon for $80 in November), and it's great for playing most Vita titles on a TV.

I have yet to stream from a PS4 since I don't have one, but I believe most people who have streamed from it and are wired experience no lag.

Also, I get 60dl/30ul speeds from my provider, and I use a gigabit ethernet wireless AC router, so even my wireless is fast.

When I eventually get a PS4 I'll let everyone know how it performs.

All in all, I just love having the PSTV since it allows me to have another room to play my PSOne Classics as well as Vita games and it was very affordable.

If that was a DUALSHOCK 4 I'd bite. I would really only use it on rare occasions when my nephew stays over, as he sleeps in my game room.

It always seemed like an unnecessary device. Well, at least for me. I love games but I don't think I've ever been in a situation where I just couldnt turn the game off for a few hours if someone wants to use the big TV, especially now being able to suspend gameplay on the PS4 (i think it was in the last update, right?) and X1. Even the Wii U pad only gets used by the wife when she wants to lay across the couch and play something at the same time I am. It's neat but nothing I'd go out and spend money to be able to do.
