GameStop Starts Selling Retro Consoles And Video Games

Time to take a step back in time...or several steps, as the case may be.

GameStop is now selling retro games and consoles online and in its stores. This includes everything from the original Nintendo to the first PlayStation and N64. You know you want to flesh out your SNES and Genesis collections.

Of course, all games offered in this new program are pre-owned. If you want mint-condition, factory-sealed products, you're going to have to resort to eBay or something. That doesn't keep GameStop from charging a premium for some very rare titles; for instance, Suikoden II (PS1) is going for $90 and Conker's Bad Fury Day (N64) sells for $80. Yeah, well, they can't have my copy of Suikoden II. I wonder if I can find certain gems I missed out on back in the day...have a feeling they might be a rip-off, though.

Gonna peruse the old-school stock?

I've had too many bad experiences with used games, and I find it's easier to just shell out the big bucks for a new copy. But I am glad they are expanding their options for those who will enjoy it.

I haven't had much trouble finding new copies of old games. I just have to really want it to be willing to pay the asking price.

If I was rich I'd get all my old sh*t back from the old days so it was like I had my whole history back.

I still feel sick remembering the feeling of trading in my old games for a PlayStation back in '97. I loved PlayStation, of course, and I had no other means to get one at the time, so it was necessary to do it. But I simply did not appreciate my emotional attachment to the games that mattered so much to me, or realize I would miss them terribly.

One day, I will have the space and the means to rebuild that collection.

GameStop is a pawn shop, just one that specializes in videogames and preying on young consumers who don't realize how horribly they are being screwed.

I would like a brand new dreamcast to play RECORD OF LODOSS WAR on it. That game destroyed Diablo 1 and 2. Yes it was a Diablo type game. But the graphics were out of this world. Gameplay awesome and leveling up and getting strong was fun and not a chore.

Nice to see GameStop always looking for new ways to be horrible. I can't wait until digital distribution puts this shitty company out of business for good.

I bet of you have any of those games and took them in to sell they'd still offer you like $2.50 and then turn around and sell it for that $80+ price.
