10,000 Cars For GT 5 Rumor Gets Debunked
Yeah, 10,000 cars sounds almost too good to be true...and in fact, it is. Yesterday, a huge rumor was making the rounds throughout the Internet, claiming that the official car list for Gran Turismo 5 had been revealed, and 10,000 cars would ultimately become available for the much-anticipated racer. According to GTCenter, the game would feature 340 cars upon release, and Polyphony was preparing many, many more for possible download in the future.
But Sony's semi-official blog ThreeSpeech reached Sony for a response to this claim, and as it turns out, the list is nothing more than "speculation."
“Despite news articles claiming that ‘SCEI/Polyphony Digital’ have made an official announcement with regards to GT5 featuring 1000 vehicles, we can confirm that this is pure speculation. It would appear that the list is a mixture of vehicles that were included in previous GT titles, coupled with somebody’s own fantasy garage. Further details about GT5 will be announced in due course, but for the moment at least, we can confirm that the current car list/speculation, does not come from SCE.”
GTCenter has since retracted the story, apologizing for the mistake and clarifying the list they received was just a "Wishlist." We anxiously await more information and details concerning Gran Turismo 5, but we should probably stick to officially confirmed info, yes?
