EA Offers Explanation For Inferior PS3 Madden
Quite obviously, 30fps isn't as good as 60fps, as Madden NFL 08 fans soon found out. The Xbox 360 version is clearly superior due to this issue - the framerate suffered in the PS3 version - and PS3 owners were certainly disappointed in discovering this significant failing. And of course, everyone wanted to know only one thing: why?
EA has tried to explain to GamesIndustry.biz, though, and the reason for this discrepancy between the two versions is actually quite simple...EA Tiburon was just more comfortable working with the Xbox 360 hardware.
"In the case of the next-generation consoles, many publishers have been developing titles for the Xbox 360 for over three and a half years while everyone who publishes now for the PlayStation 3 with the exception of Sony has been developing for the PlayStation 3 for only a little over one full year," said EA in the statement. "The differences in the overall knowledge of the hardware is vastly different for both consoles and, as is the case with newer technology, it is very difficult to get it right the first time."
Well, we figured as much. EA isn't up to snuff on the more complex PS3 architecture at this point, but despite the admission, this doesn't help football fans and PS3 owners this season. Let's hope EA gets on the ball before too long.
