Assassin's Creed Escalates From Teen To Mature
Easily one of the most promising titles of the fall is Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed, which has been garnering plenty of attention throughout 2007. Early videos and screenshots showed a game that seemed almost too pretty to be true, but those who had a chance to see the game in action at the Games Convention 2007 say yeah, it really does look that good. It should once again pop up at the Tokyo Games Show next week, giving attendees yet another chance to dive into the atmospheric and intense action.
However, the ESRB has recently deemed that their previously issued T-Teen rating is insufficient. Originally, the game received the middle-of-the-road rating (especially for action games) for "blood, violence, and strong language." But now, the new rating is M-Mature...for exactly the same reasons, apparently. We have no details as to why the rating needed to be changed, or if Ubisoft may have added something in the recent months. But either way, we do know places like Wal-Mart will ask for your ID if you don't look old enough to pick up Assassin's Creed.
Hey, some of the best games ever were M-rated, so it's not like the quality will change. But we would like to know what prompted the ESRB to change their minds...
