Sony And Future US To Publish New PlayStation Magazine

Sometimes, it seems like video game magazines pop up and disappear in record time, but there are a few that have stuck fast throughout the years. Sony and Future US are hoping their new publishing endeavor will be one of those successful mags; one that becomes nicely entrenched in the gaming community.

Today, Sony and Future US have announced they will be publishing a new gaming magazine called, "PlayStation: The Official Magazine." They're not fooling around, either; the magazine will see an initial circulation of about 300,000 copies and is scheduled to launch this holiday season. In fact, you can expect to see the first edition hit store shelves by late November, just in time for the Christmas rush. If you're interested in checking it out, they will publish 13 issues per year, and of course, the magazine will boast all kinds of official news, previews and reviews. Former Editor-in-Chief of PlayStation Magazine, Rob Smith, has assumed the E.I.C. role for PlayStation: The Official Magazine.

Future US already has some big-name gaming publications out there, including Maximum PC, Nintendo Power, and Mac|Life. Obviously, this new magazine will cover all Sony platforms, so if you're looking for all the latest on the PS3, PSP and PS2...well, check PSX Extreme first. But if for whatever bizarre reason you want even more coverage, please do check out PlayStation: The Official Magazine.
