Call Of Duty 4 Single-Player: 5-6 Hours?

It's a known fact that multiplayer is shaping up to be the wave of the future, but as a consequence, some say the single-player aspect of video games is starting to suffer. After all, this is traditionally a single-player hobby, but with each new era, there's definitely a heavier emphasis on multiplayer, both split-screen (party style) and online. This is often more evident in the most popular online multiplayer genre: FPS.

And it seems another high-profile title may clock in at what many will call a sub-par length. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is looking great, and the latest OXM saw fit to give it a 10/10, but they also said the single-player campaign was only about 5-6 hours long. Among the highlighted points in the review, they talked about the "tremendous battle scale," "brilliantly judged pace changes," and something about "helicopter bonanza!" On the other hand, they said it's "dense but very short"...yeah, 5-6 hours long is pretty damn short.

However, many great games aren't very long - Heavenly Sword doesn't take much longer than 6-8 hours and even Gears of War wasn't much past 10 hours - but 5 or 6 hours seems a bit extreme. Clearly, this game will be all about the multiplayer, but is that enough to entice consumers to fork over the full price of admission? Guess we'll have to wait and see...
