Activision Presents National Guitar Hero III Tournament

As if the launch of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock isn't big enough already, Activision is teaming up with Pontiac and Hot Topic to ratchet things up another notch. If you're at least 16 years of age, you will have the chance to show off your super shredding skills and win a 2008 Pontiac G5! We're talking about a one-month tournament tour, where consumers from all over the country can play the game at Hot Topic stores in the following cities:

• Orland Park, IL- Orland Square Mall (November 8)
• Paramus, NJ- Garden State Plaza Mall (November 12)
• Buford, GA- Mall of Georgia (November 15)
• Austin, TX- Barton Creek Mall (November 19)
• Phoenix, AZ- Metro Center Mall (November 26)
• Las Vegas, NV- Meadows Mall (November 29)
• Northridge, CA- Northridge Fashion Center (December 3)
• San Francisco, CA- San Francisco Center (December 5)

The qualifying rounds will take place in each location between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and the top 8 scores from each round will proceed to the semi-final rounds. Once a winner is assured, that skilled gamer will receive a $100 gift card to Hot Topic, and the winner will submit their high score on an undisclosed song to determine the two national finalists. These two kings of the guitar will receive a free trip for two to Los Angeles to face off in the Grand Final Round, and they'll be competing in front of Guitar Hero III's Activision game developers! Whoever wins drives away in that sleek Pontiac G5.

If you think you've got what it takes, you can pre-register for the tournament by visiting one of those Hot Topic stores listed above at 10:30 a.m. five days before the competition begins. You'll have all day to do it, but just remember registration closes at 5:00 p.m. And while it's not required, tournament organizers recommend you do so because space will be limited. Who will be the true video game rock God?
