TIME Issues Top 10 Video Games Of 2007

A lot of great games came out in 2007, and just about every major source on the planet is already handing out their Game of the Year awards. The latest is TIME magazine, who just recently published their Top 10 Video Games of 2007. The list isn't too bad; let's just hope the accompanying descriptions aren't as error-laden as the New York Times' recent holiday buying guide debacle.

Here's the lineup:

  • 1. Halo 3
  • 2. The Orange Box
  • 3. Rock Band
  • 4. Super Mario Galaxy
  • 5. BioShock
  • 6. Call of Duty 4
  • 7. Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
  • 8. Mass Effect
  • 9. Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation
  • 10. God of War 2

See? Not bad at all. Of course, we don't agree with Halo 3 at #1, and we can't really see how Ace Combat 6 is better than what in our minds remains the best action game of the year in God of War II. TIME did their best to justify the #1 slot, though, calling Bungie's blockbuster "the perfect hardcore first-person combat simulator" that has been perfected like "a pebble that has been rounded over the centuries by the gentle splashing of the ocean waves." (source- Kotaku) Er...okay. It's a great game, no doubt, but the literary melodrama is a bit much. Still, we believe most major game sources would agree with many of the games on that list, so that's a good thing.
