PS3 Connectivity Patch Coming For CoD4

PS3 owners and avid Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare online players may have been experiencing a few issues since the game's release. However, the development team plans to issue a PS3 Connectivity Patch that is going to fix these problems and enhance the general experience.

According to an administrative post over at the official CoD4 forums, the patch will become available "in the very near future" and will feature the following:

US Data Center For NAT Server

It will let all US players connect to the US data center and EU users connect to the EU data center. This will optimize performance for all users in those areas.

Fixed 'Downloading Game Settings' Error

Self-explanatory; it fixed the error with conflicting packet interaction.

Port 3095 Issue Corrected

Again, self-explanatory. Before, players were required to have port 3095 open in order to host an online match, but now, players who have port 3095 blocked can still host matches.

Matchmaking Optimization

Server search will end upon acquiring a certain number of good servers. They added "prefer" servers with best ping ratings; this will optimize and expedite players finding and joining good matches.

This patch is designed specifically to fix any and all connectivity issues with the game, but that doesn't mean the team is done. They plan to issue another patch later that will feature a few more multiplayer enhancements, although there's no ETA on that one just yet. Just be happy your online experience with CoD4 is going to get a whole lot better, very soon.
