Analyst Predicts PS3 Shipment Shortcomings
Masahiko Ishino, an analyst from Mitsubishi UFJ Securities, issued a notice to investors doubting that Sony will be able to ship 6 million PlayStation 3 units before their fiscal year (March 31st, 2007) is up. The report cites that Sony will not be able to maintain steady production of their expensive hardware that powers the PS3 unit. Instead, Ishino claims that 3 million units shipped is the more ideal and probable goal.
Though, it must be noted that in a recent interview with cNet's GameSpot, Kaz Hirai stuck to his guns by going on record to say that Sony will launch 2 million units in November alone. In addition to another 2 million before the Holiday season is over. Whether or not such promises will be kept remains to be seen, but in the meantime after the issued statement, Sony's stock dropped $1.29 (150Yen). The drop is clearly nothing too crucial, so it doesn't look like Ishino's words have struck much of a nerve.
