Beowulf, Wolfenstein Writer Roger Avary Arrested

We're not fans of reporting bad news, but sometimes, it just has to be done.

Roger Avary, the screenwriter responsible for the recent "Beowulf" film and the upcoming "Wolfenstein" adaptation, has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and driving under the influence. Avary was involved in a single-car crash that killed a man and injured Avary's wife, who was thrown from the vehicle. A passenger, Italian Andreas Zini who was visiting the couple, was killed in the accident. This is terrible news, and certainly not because it will more than likely affect the Wolfenstein movie; it's just a very unfortunate human tragedy. However, according to CVG, here's what Avary had to say about his ambition regarding his latest project-

"One of the foremost experiences I had growing up was playing Wolfenstein 3D. I played the original Castle Wolfenstein game, but really it was 3D that changed things. It was like a quantum leap in graphics at that point, and it was the first time I was transported inside another world and in control of it. My avatar was me, and when I turned it off, it was like I was leaving a very real world."

We hope everything turns out well for Avary, and wish both him and his wife the speediest of recoveries. We're none too happy to hear about that "under the influence" part, though...

Good, not sure if I'll buy immediately.
Eh, not bad, but I don't care.
It's just a stupid money grab.
