THQ Drops Early Info For Red Faction 3

One of the best games for the PS2 during its early days was Volition and THQ's Red Faction, which helped to kick off a memorable 2001 in March of that year. The sequel was good but not quite as well-received, and since then, fans have been waiting to hear news regarding Red Faction 3.

Well, according to FiringSquad, a recent THQ conference call dropped hints on the game, first saying it was in development for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. They currently have the title penciled in for their 2009 fiscal year, which starts on April 1 of this year, and we should expect more information "in the coming weeks." They also said those appealing destructible environments are going to make a triumphant return, which sounds plenty good to us. Of course, Volition is facing far stiffer FPS competition in this new generation, but we loved the original so we have faith they can deliver the goods once again.

While we probably shouldn't expect to see much about Red Faction 3 at the Game Developers Conference, perhaps they'll have a trailer at this year's E3...? Yeah, we're looking down the road, so what? We want to see RF3!

I loved the first game but wasn't taken in by the second. I hope RF3 can get the franchise back on the right track.
