2K To Publish DNF, Still No Release Date
When we heard 3D Realms had apparently confirmed Duke Nukem Forever for a 2008 release, we had to admit, we were both excited and surprised. The game that basically redefined the term "vaporware" was actually going to arrive! But in the latest news from the developer's camp, do we already sense some backtracking...?
According to MCVUK, it appears 2K Games is in line to publish the highly anticipated FPS, and they do plan to release it for "multiple formats," as 3D Realms president Scott Miller said earlier. Thanks to a recent trailer, everyone is once again excited for DNF, and with the announcement of a 2008 release (again, evidently confirmed by Miller himself), our hopes are high. We didn't know who would be publishing the game, but Miller wanted to remind us that they "didn't pick" Take-Two Interactive; the publisher bought the agreement back in 2000. He also said the entire project has been "self-funded" as they didn't receive any development money from Take-Two.
But that's not the part that worries us. When asked whether or not 2K would be publishing DNF "this calendar year," Miller would only respond with- “Sneaky question.” Well now, wait...that's not exactly a "sneaky question." They probably just wanted to clarify that a 2008 release really is in the cards. We have the same question- is Duke Nukem Forever coming out this year or not? Simple. We don't need an exact release date, we just want a re-confirmation that it is indeed coming in 2008. That's all. Is it really too much to ask?
