Call of Duty 4 Sweeps IAAS Awards
The Call of Duty franchise is certainly no strange to "Game of the Year" honor (which excludes COD3), but it is still quite impressive to behold, regardless. Having said that, Infinity Ward is not doing the next Call of Duty game, with Treyarch taking over duties again and taking it back to World War II. That in mind, we have a sneaking suspicion this year's COD game won't be quite as spectacular. But only time will tell.
“It’s an honor for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare to be recognized by the Academy as the best game of 2007,” said Robin Kaminsky, executive vice president of publishing, Activision, Inc. “The team at Infinity Ward is committed to delivering groundbreaking entertainment to gamers worldwide and all of the awards are an acknowledgment of their talent, dedication and hard work.”
“With Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, we wanted to deliver the best, most intense action experience ever,” added studio head and project lead Jason West from developer Infinity Ward. “We’re thrilled and truly appreciate that our efforts have been recognized by the Academy, especially with the incredible competition this year.”
Call of Duty 4 was the best selling game last year, and is currently the best selling PlayStation 3 game available. Quite the achievement.
