NCSoft To Reveal PS3 Title Later This Year
Last year, we learned that NCSoft, responsible for several of the biggest PC MMORPGs to date, had signed on with Sony to produce titles for the PlayStation 3. Since then, we've heard whispers and rumors, but the developer hasn't yet showed off anything concrete. Well, that's all going to change some time during the second half of this year.
According to an interview with the Wired blog, NCsoft's new president Chris Chung won't unveil the title of their newest PS3 project just yet, but he did say they'll have "something to announce - not only announce but to show - by the second half of this year." Some may have believed they would simply port over one of their past PC hits, like City of Heroes or Guild Wars, but NCSoft simply says "that's the wrong way to do it." As Chung said in the interview-
"You have to create a gameplay that's really suitable for the console space, the console experience. I mean, it's very different from PC. I think the key is whether the development team really buys into the console. I think we have a couple of development teams that the title that they're making could be a hit in the console space as well as the PC."However, the article does note that the recently released Tabula Rasa sports a "decidedly console-esque interface and combat design," so perhaps there is the possibility NCSoft will port that one to the PS3. But Chung is talking about an original console project, here, so we're excited about that. We'll keep you posted.

I understand all those things about the team constantly working on it but I still just can't wrap my head around the whole paying twice thing. Maybe I'm just cheap or maybe it's because I know that I would probably pop it in for only an hour or two each week and can't justify the large fee. If MMO developers would start a payment strategy similar to a pre-paid phone card, (you pay for thirty hours or whatever) I'd be all for it. (In fact if Microsoft did that with Live I'd probably own a 360) But to each his own, right?

I believe NCsoft made Guild Wars which is famous for not having these fees but unless companies stop this payment scheme they will never earn my cash. I've always been a little bit interested in getting into some of these games so here's to hoping they bring me what I want.
