PS3 Info Bar To Receive PS Blog Content
The official PlayStation blog has been an excellent source of new information ever since the launch last year, but Sony plans to adopt an even more direct approach when it comes to delivering the details. According to a recent post by Sony's Jeff Rubinstein, it seems the PlayStation blog will be implemented into the XMB Information Bar on the PS3.
The Information Bar was added in a firmware update in 2007, and can be accessed to see the latest news in the Sony realm. Now, rather than checking two different sources for the latest updates, you'll only need to check one...and you'll never have to leave your PS3. Rubinstein said for us to "look for the Blog to start showing up on the info bar this week," so that's an interesting development. The only problem we have is that the Info bar can still slow certain things down on the machine, which is why some of us always have the bar disabled. We've experienced some major system slowdown and outright freezing with the Info bar enabled, although it may be stabilized in future firmware updates.
In the meantime, this is just another way for Sony to to keep everyone up-to-date and in-the-know. We certainly check the blog on a daily basis to see what's up, and that's just because so many developers, publishers, and other Sony team members are consistently posting up new and intriguing details. So it's a darn good idea to have this info tossed up on the PS3 for all to see, right?
