Future Mass Effect Titles Coming To PS3?
There's no doubt that Mass Effect was one of the best titles of 2007, even though PS3 owners had to do without the Microsoft-published game. However, the situation may have changed drastically yesterday, now that EA has agreed to "handle future publishing" for future installments of the critically acclaimed RPG, including the upcoming PC version.
The PC version is scheduled to arrive in May, and according to the official press release, President of EA's Games Label Frank Gibeau said- "EA has struck an agreement with Microsoft to handle future publishing for Mass Effect. We are looking forward to releasing Mass Effect on the PC this Spring and brand new titles in the future." Okay, well...considering this is the case, it's no surprise to hear plenty of speculation that future Mass Effects will no longer be exclusive to the Xbox 360. EA really doesn't believe in releasing games for only one console - that would simply limit sales potential - and they certainly don't like to do it for big-name franchises. The sequel to Mass Effect will indeed be hotly anticipated, and it could be very likely it might arrive for the PlayStation 3.
Some sources have attempted to get an answer from EA regarding this possibility, but they just responded with the typically corporate, "no comment." Obviously, with Microsoft publishing the original, there was no hope, but now, things appear to have changed. We'll have to wait and see what happens in the future, and whether or not BioWare has anything to say on this issue.
